This wasn't called Sowieso when I was there in the late 70's. The food and atmosphere were completely different. If you liked homemade soup with ham on dark bread with mustard those were the days. Nice to see it's still there. Only now more Hip Hop than 60's and 70's tunes played on vinyl at a volume you could still chat under. I have been searching for this place for years. And the internet finally caught up! If you have a chance to go, I highly recommend this place as a very fun and enjoyable trip. Davesfolly
A typical german punk rock dive bar. It 's pretty much about Football (Soccer) down there, for the owner important games can be watched on TV. (Mainly underdog clubs of 2nd and 3rd league, Hamburg 's St. Pauli as well) Check out the Baguettes they serve delicious and cheap. Draft beer definitely recommendable too. Guest and staff are straight anti fascist and wont tolerate any stupid discriminatory talk behaviour.
I used Sowieso, in the Summer of 1991, I was working on the building site opposite (Shops and flats and living in a Wohncontaner on the job. We used to go there in the evening and drink the wheat beer and play chess. I remember the barmaid as very friendly.
