Spezialitaeten-Restaurant Royal

Vor unserem Aufenthalt in Gera bekamen wir den Tip, mal dieses Restaurant zu besuchen, wenn wir mal Gourmet geniessen wollen.Nun, wir bummelten durch die Straße "Sorge" gegen Abend, alles sah schon sehr ruhig aus, und wir machten uns ein wenig Sorge um unsere Mägen, die leer waren.Die Adresse "Sorge 19 " sah von außen nach allem aus, nur nicht nach einem Gourmet Restaurant, eher nach Blumengeschäft, Trödelladen oder verspieltes Kaffe. Beim Blick durch die Scheibe konnte man nicht viel außer Dunkelheit erkennen. Etwas verzagt drückte ich auf die Türklinke schon in Erwartung, daß der Laden geschlossen sei.Aber in dem Moment wurde die Tür auch schon von innen geöffnet und ein netter Herr machte uns auf und hieß uns willkommen. In der Parterre, wie gesagt, war nichts von einem Restaurant zu sehen, und auf meine Frage ob man auch essen könne,, geleitete uns dieser Herr auf die 1. Etage, wo einige, vielleicht 5 Tische waren.Seltsam, wir waren und blieben an diesem Abend auch die einzigen Gäste.Nachdem wir etwas zu trinken bestellt hatten, reichte uns Herr König, der Inhaber des Restaurants eine handgeschriebene Speisekarte, die den französisch angehauchten Stil des Restaurants widerspiegelte. Beim Wein baten wir um eine Flasche aus der Gegend.Bei der diesbezüglichen Beratung entwickelte sich dann ein sehr interessantes Gespräch aus dem wir entnehmen konnten, daß der Inhaber alles aber auch alles selber macht, von der Geschäftsführung, über den Service bis zum Kochen. Uns kamen Zweifel hoch, ob das wohl alles klappen könne, bis wir dann erfuhren, daß Hr. König niemals mehr als 6 Personen zugleich in seinem Restaurant aufnimmt. Ist diese Zahl erreicht, wird unten im Fenster das Schild "Geschlossen" sichtbar.Nach dem Erzählen verzog sich unser Gastgeber, um das, was wir bestellt hatten, zuzubereiten.Nun gut, zugegebenermaßen muß man schon etwas mehr Geduld als üblich mitbringen.Aber was dann nach 45 Minuten letztlich serviert und präsentiert wurde, war ganz großes Kino.So was von handwerklich gut und lecker zubereitet und auch optischtoll dargeboten, habe ich schon lange nicht mehr genossen.Meine Frau hatte ein Fischgericht und ich ein Fleischgericht bestellt, alles genau auf den Punkt.Zwischendurch dann immer wieder kurze Plaudereien über Land und Leute, die Geschichte des Hauses und die von Gera.Wir müssen sagen, wir haben bei diesem Besuch in den zweieinhalb Stunden mehr über Thüringen und seine Einwohner erfahren als während unserer gesamten 2-wöchigen Rundreise durch Thüringen.Wagen Sie einfach mal einen Besuch dort, hat man erst mal den Fuß über die Schwelle gesetzt, fühlt man sich sofort wohl.Herr König mit seinem Insider Wissen und seiner netten Art wird für Kurzweil sorgen.Wir haben uns an diesem Tag super wohl gefühlt, und waren fast ein wenig traurig als wir aufbrechen mussten.Dank an Hr. 7. In June 2020 we came to Gera on our bike tour, were looking for a good restaurant and found at the Royal Restaurant. The house with the address Sorge 19 initially proposes a flower shop instead of a special restaurant. The door was closed, but we ran a bell. Then the owner – Mr. King – opens and tells us that he has a closed company today and cannot accommodate any other guests. That's bad luck! What can he recommend to us as an alternative? This is very difficult due to the different tastes and requirements. And that's why he doesn't like it! We were ratless. Then I asked him if it could be possible that we sit quietly in a corner of the restaurant, behave very neatly and eat very well what he chooses for us and brings to the table. Mr. King laughed, asked us and led us to the first floor where some, maybe 5 tables stand. The plant is very original. After we had ordered a drink, Mr. König wrote a menu that reflects the French style of the restaurant. During the consultation on the order a very interesting conversation developed in which we learned that King Everything is in One: he advises, cooks, serves, parses with the guests and is then also the managing director. This can be called “service from one hand in perfection”. Mr. King told us we have to have a little more patience than usual. We did that and were rewarded for it. The food was a poem! A tasty asparagus you could get addicted to. As a main dish we chose cheese medals – formidable! In the meantime there were always short conversations with the Lord King, oscillating between the dining room and the kitchen. The whole was a very special experience! Thank you. We had been invited to the restaurant by friends after an event at the unwide KuK. It was our first visit to the Royal and we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed the only guests this evening and the owner Mr. König, CEO, waiter and Koch explained his concept to us in personal union. The love and conviction for his comprehensive action becomes clear from each of his words. We felt extremely comfortable. After the opening of his concept, we were aware that we would have to wait for our chosen dishes, but what did not happen to our well-being in his home. With nice conversations, also with the host again and again, the time passed from about 45 minutes to 1h still feels much faster. The then served food was very good, both visually dressed and delicious. The meat from all four guests, although different dishes, prepared to the point. All in all that we have a successful day-to-day sound. We can highly recommend this restaurant in any way. We were for the first time, but certainly not for the last time with Mr König.

We two wanted to go on a culinary journey and decided to go to the Restaurant Royal on the care of Gera. The evening was really great, Mr. King takes time for his guests. He takes care of everything, the hosting, cooking and also a chat with his guests must not be missing. The ambience is very cozy and there is a lot to discover here. As an appetizer, we woke up on frog legs. There was a salad and a fried watchdog. The appetizer was delicious, then the main course came, just fantastic. The fish plate for 2 persons can be selected from 10 fish fillets 3 . We had Barramundi, St. Peterfisch and Red Knurrhahn, an absolute palate joy. There were rice on mangold, mussel, mussel, mussel, giant cloves and lovingly prepared vegetables. We really loved the food. As a dessert there were self-made mousse au chocolat with plums, although we were saturated, we had to try this. We were not disappointed, really highly recommended. For a special evening the perfect location, we can only say a highlight in Gera. Thank you again.

After some looking for house number 19 at the care of Gera, we stood in front of the small French restaurant of Mr. König. On the first floor there were about 5 tables and we arrived a bit like in the host's living room. Just original. The boss, at the same time waiter and chef really took time to explain the handwritten map. We felt comfortable right away. After we had ordered it took about 1 hour before the food was ready, but the wait was really rewarded. In a 5 star house it cannot taste better. It was just a hammer. So we can only recommend Mr. König and also like to come back. You should take a lot of time, because he cooks everything completely fresh and alone.
