My partner and I visited this restaurant for the first time and enjoyed a delicious meal. We skipped starters, each had a curry, shared a side dish, and naan bread. We were planning on returning until we received the bill... The total came to £81 (written in a different pen than the rest of the bill), which seemed unusually high for what we had ordered. We checked the bill for any extra charges, but everything seemed fine. However, upon closer inspection, we realized that the total didn't add up. We ended up using our phones to calculate and confirmed that the correct total should have been £51. We pointed out the mistake to the waiter, who quickly corrected the bill to £51.15 and acknowledg...
Thought we would try the takeaway as there had been some excellent reviews. As we are on self isolation we requested a delivery. We were very disappointed. The samosa were two of the smallest ones I have ever seen. Just minuscule. The matar paneer consisted of just a few peas and no discernible cheese. The Peshawar Nan was not a Peshawar nan. It was very spicy, no hint of coconut. The CTM was just sauce, very few chicken pieces and to top it all in the chicken Balti was a small stone or hard seed that could have easily cracked a tooth. I know we live in strange times, but the meal was inexcusable. I have been to the restaurant many times when it was as open but will take my custom elsewhere....
Ordered a delivery last weekend, waited 2 hours, tried calling phone engaged, had to go and collect, not good in lockdown. Gave them a second chance and ordered again this weekend, told them we had waited 2 hours last weekend, only to wait 2 1/2 hours this weekend! Phoned several times they said it would be 15 mins, when it did eventually arrive we had arranged other food so sent it back! No apologies from them! Don’t bother ordering a delivery! We have been very regular customers but are now ordering elsewhere.
Ordered a takeaway for my brother’s 18th, we are regular customers and are never disappointed but tonight was a different story. Ordered 2 peshwari nans and received two plain ones extremely dry) had a chicken tikka bhuna which is usually lovely but had no flavour what so ever and the chicken was dry, madras was spicy but didn’t taste of much else. Safe to say we will not be rushing back, not sure if it was a bad night or what but nothing worse than a bad curry when you’ve been looking forward to it all week : Reserva una mesa ahora
Spice Masala was recommended to us and I have to say, we were not disappointed! The gentleman that greeted us at the door was very friendly and courteous. The staff were quick to serve us and check that we were happy throughout the meal. The food was lovely. Every item ordered was delicious. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a nice meal out in Ongar.
We have recently moved to Ongar in January and tried the local Indians. Spice Masala is by far the best one! We get this takeaway every weekend without fail: never ever had a bad meal. The best Indian takeaway I have had in my life, the flavours and salt/sugar levels are spot on. Very very well done. deserve a pat on the back!
Our first visit after a long time and we were happy to discover once again very friendly staff, very good food and very reasonably priced menu. Covid practices were in place and it was well maintained and spotless. The restaurant was well suppported with all tables being taken throughout the evening.
I visited this restaurant for the first time to pick up a takeaway. The manager was very friendly and even told us about the history of the building. We enjoyed a beer while waiting for our food, which turned out to be excellent with so much flavor. I will definitely be dining in next time. Reserva una mesa ahora
My wife and I went on Monday for our wedding anniversary meal, clean, tidy, great service and superb food, and the bonus of being very reasonably priced. After trying the others locally, we've found that Spice Masala is far better than the rest... We'll definitely be back
