Spicer's Bakery

It’s a little indie bakery on the main street of this small town. The shelves are lined with traditional fare including homemade doughnuts, breads, cookies, and other pastries. I tried a Rum and Raisin tart, a fresh Strawberry tart, and a loaf of White bread.I had the bread sliced and I liked the flavour of it. Simple white bread yes, but it did have some flavour as if there was extra dairy in it. I used it toasted for my salmon sandwiches, which I added a tad of minced red onion, pickle, pickled garlic, and mayo to the fish. The Strawberry tart was made with fresh strawberries and pastry cream, but the shell was a bit soggy. The Rum and Raisin tart was moist and the shell was saturated with syrup. It was a decent desert for a traveler. I recommend Spicer’s Bakery.

I purchased some bread, buns and sweets at this bakery this morning around 9:45 a.m I specifically asked if the parkerhouse rolls were baked fresh today (they were behind the counter on a shelf where I couldn't touch them). The girl behind the counter asked the baker in back and the reply was Yes. Well, they were not fresh and I would guess that they were probably older than yesterday's! I will never grace the door of this bakery again...stale is one thing, lying about it is quite another. I would advise people to find another bakery to purchase from!

Well worth the value and the added 'good feeling' of supporting a young entrepreneur who is committed to running a small business in Tilllsonburg. There is a lot of selection, a lot of desserts and great baked breads. Their marble rye is my favorite.

Spicers has been in Tillsonburg and other communities for literally decades Great bread ,pastries and other treats.Try the butter flake rolls .They are a holiday tradition in our household

Things have certainly changed since the last time I reviewed this restaurant, back when they had recently switched ownership from their old owners to the new ones.
