We dined here twice during our hotel stay. The breakfasts were fabulous everything you could wish for. Our dinners were also very, very good. The starters we had were exceptional. The mains were very good also. We are Americans and speak and understand virtually...no German. The young lady who ran the restuarant was very good about translating portions of the menu. Waiters also spoke English. The only reason we didn’t give a star rating was that the waiters seemed to ignore us to some extent. The first night, we had to ask the waiter repeatedly to pour our wine which was on a table behind us. He never checked back with us during the meal. We were staying in the Romantic Hotel so the hotel's restraurant was most convenient plus it looked very nice and the menu was appealing. We are SO glad we did as we had not just a delicious dinner but a truly memorable evening. We sat...on the patio with a fabulous view of the lush green hills all around as the sun set. The waitress helped us select a great bottle of a robust German red wine. My wife's roasted saddle of venison was delicious and my wild boar schnitzel was also. We finished with a scrumptious ball forestr cake laced liberally with kirsch. The whole evening was perfect and this one we will remember and treasure for a long time
Cycled here from Sulzburg and stopped for a break here before returning on a beautiful warm autumn day. Beer and local wine together with a shared platter of cheese ham and other tasty morsels with crusty bread. Service excellent. English speaking and helpful. Linen napkins...and placemats on outside tables a touch of class. Decided it could be a nice place to stay but had to cycle back. Long but downhill
We were on a hike from our Emerald waterways boat and stopped here for cake and coffee. We all enjoyed a massive portion of this lovely cake and were so warmly received. The family who own it are the generation and the daughter gave...us a short history and made us feel so very welcome.The hotel is in a fantastic location for the Black Forest and we would love to return here some day for sure

during our stay in the hotel Spielweg we dinned at the restaurant. Chef Vicky with her take of traditional cuisine with an asian twist was really well balanced. the combinations were really good and tasteful. the wine list is superb and the sommelier has a...good knowledge about whiskey. we definitely come back for another visit
Everytime I have been here the food was perfection! The menu changes according to the season and has creative dishes. Taking a menu allows you to taste all the good things they offer. It is a rather pricey restaurant but totally worth it! The atmosphere...is typical black forest and the service is very friendly
Enjoyed a sunny, cool weekday autumn afternoon lunch here when service was relaxed and the sun brilliantly lit up the fresh flowers o the table. They have instilled a genuine cultural/historical feeling to the place in decor and in menu. Its little valley and neighboring...monastery round out a charming setting
