I love a good museum cafe and Spitz did not disappoint on our visit to the Swiss National Musuem (Schweizerisches Nationalmuseum). After an hour of exploring the museum we ventured back to the cafe for a coffee break before continuing on. The cafe was quite busy, there was a nice array of baked cakes/tarts and filled rolls in the display cabinet. With only one staff member attending, the queue was slow to move, we placed our coffee order at the counter where we waited until it was ready. The coffee was made well, the large amaretti biscuit was delicious.
On Saturday at 11:15 p.m. there is nothing left to drink. The bartender has already cleaned everything. Despite the large sign outside with the promising text bar open and opening hours until midnight. Hello! We are here in Switzerland and published opening times can be viewed as binding.
The restaurant in the Landesmuseum. Here you can stop either before or after visiting the museum, to have a snack or a drink. The menu is not very rich. The employee who served me, a bit confused, didn't quite understand what drink I wanted even though it was on the shelf behind him.

Well, it's ok. Relatively small selection of main courses. Medullary bone perfect. Guinea fowl rather dry. Soup very good, meat rather tough. Cream Catalana perfect, brownie a bit dusty. Still fun. Good location. The garden in summer is more chill than the atmosphere inside.
This is a great place to have a drink especially when sun is out. However , took ages to go inside and get a drink. Then when we wanted to leave it took ages to pay. Despite this it was a good place to have a drink.
We were only in the bar, unfortunately I can't rate the restaurant (yet . But it's really a good bar with a cool atmosphere and delicious cocktails. The bartender was nice too. Relax for a drink or two ;
I really enjoy being at the Spitz and do so regularly. Great location, good, uncomplicated food and a nice ambience.
