I came here on the Urban Adventures tour and had the fish and chips for lunch. The fish was delicious, nice and soft with a crispy batter. The chips and tartare sauce were delicious, and the greek salad was also quite nice. I really can't believe some of the pretentious reviews I'm seeing below for a place where you're sitting on the Esplanade and barely paying $20. "It lacks creativity" - what are these truly inspiring restaurants that you go to every day? "The full meal is just like the kids one but bigger and with more stuff" - yeah, and adults are just like kids but bigger and with more stuff.Great meal. I would definitely return.
The food was nice. The portions were good size. Im actually giving this a 3.5. It didnt make a 4 for me because I didnt get a wow factor with the meal. The calamari dish was tasty but it was simply a large version of the kids calamari except you get more salad and they get the chips. The fish dish was also tasty but a little dry/overcooked. If they had a 20 something dollar bottle of wine that would be my preference instead of paying a similar amount for one glass of wine and a beer. The table service was very good, all the waitresses were friendly, professional, and know their trade.
We got in to Cairns just before lunch hour and took a walk down the esplanade. We stopped in here and decide to do what we call an appetizer tour. No mains, but a lot of small plates. We had soup, scallops, bugs, prawns and more from a table overlooking the water. Everything was great but if you like bugs don't order them here breaded as that was way to much breading to bug ratio. Great location, nice view for outside dining, and good food. The pace is definitely Austrailan so plan to spend some time. You will enjoy it.
.... mais dommage pour l'accompagnement: le barramundi était excellent mais les haricots verts étaient presque crus et les pommes de terre servies avec la peau! Même chose pour les cigales de mer qui étaient délicieuses mais servies avec un accompagnement infâme, un mélange de salade et de pommes de terre écrasées avec la peau. Il est urgent que le chef modifie ce qu'il sert avec ses excellents produits de la mer.

Some of the best seafood EVER. I sometimes have problems with frozen prawns (sulphites) do I made a point of checking if the prawns were fresh. I was told they were... And possibly the best prawns I've ever eaten . My partner loved his locally caught fish too. Warm and attentive service, lovely people, cannot recommend highly enough!!
Another great dinner at Splash, good service and great food. We both chose seafood chowder which was excellent, then we had coconut crumbed prawns and a calamari salad. The only thing I can fault at this restaurant is they only sell diet coke in bottles and if you want coke you have to have the machine coke.
This was our Saturday night dinner spot this past weekend. The service was friendly, down-to-earth, prompt and engaging. The food satisfied both of us quite well - and the dessert (brownie with an ice cream sidecar and raspberry sauce, was outstanding. A must visit along the busy Esplanade.

We thought this was a good place to eat. I had king prawns coated in panko and coconut and they were absolutely delicious. My husband had fish and chips which he said were very good. The service was quick and friendly.
