Have been here a couple of times, before and after town games. Great drinking pub with an amazing aray of craft, cask and bottled beers. Last went with my daughter on Tuesday after a depressing defeat against Blackpool. Oktoberfest had started so there was a great range of german beers on offer. I started with a weissebeer Dunkeld, which was delicacies, followed by the Rothaus Pils. Couldn't believe I could get it in Huddersfield. I used to travel to Karlsruhe and the black forest and had it many times there. I then had the Ayinger Kellerbier, which was also nice. However, I saved the best until last. Abinger Celebrator. I visited the restaurant on Wednesday and was impressed with the selection of beers and the attentive staff. However, I was disappointed to find that the toilets were in poor condition, with flooding on the floor and waste around the toilet. The cleanliness of the facilities, particularly in the ladies' restroom, left much to be desired. My husband also noted the lack of cleanliness in the men's restroom, with a small toilet seat covered in stains. While I understand that staffing issues may be a factor, it is important for the restaurant to prioritize cleanliness. Group visit, not been here before. Good variety of bitters and mild. Stuck to the 4% range, and the beers were good and flavourful, tho I thought a bit pricey for Yorkshire. Staff friendly and efficient, and there was always someone coming around to clear the tables. Food only pork pies and pasties, but that was fine for us. Pub filled up pretty quickly, and the locals welcomed you into all manner of conversations. A few kids in there, adult-supervised and well-behaved, drinking pops and juice. No problem to me. Convivial atmosphere, I could have stayed longer, but had somewhere else to be. Some of our group returned later.
Great selection of beer, monthly ‘meet the brewer’ events provide some insight into what your drinking with new entrants regularly updated, while the beer garden is nice and cosy even in the worst weather. Being new to town the friendly staff and patrons help make the place too.

Went for a friends wedding, nice reception room with views out onto the moors and nice garden at the rear with nice bushes for photographs. A nice touch was that they reserved tables in the bar for wedding guests even though the pub bit was very busy.
Dropped in for a pint and ended up with pie. The beer is good and has a good selection, we shared a pie and the kitchen staff came out and asked if we wanted an extra plate. She threw a couple of extra chips on as well. Oh and it was beautiful
A grand showcase for the beer scene in Huddersfield. Meet the brewer and tap takeover events are definitely worth attending. Often has something unusual on. Great beer and a great atmosphere. Arguably the best pub in Huddersfield
Really nice trad pub, good retro decor, really good beer and service. Does not do food but you can bring n food from a local takeaway, which is good. Ask at the bar

Lovely traditional pub. Clean and tidy with some original architectural features. An excellent choice of ales to choose from across a variety of styles.
