We have eaten here a couple of times and had a similar experience each time. There is no booking allowed so you get which table you are given, be it indoors (more comfortable), or outdoors. It's always very busy so if you don't like queuing for your food, get there early. We were sat in the outdoor area this time even though it was winter, they had the heaters on which actually made it really warm. The tables were way too close together and too small you were elbowing the person next to you just to cut something and two plates didn't even fit on the table, they had to be put on diagonals. I went to this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday and found it to be very busy but not chaotic. The service was attentive and friendly. We ordered the cavatelli Alla Norma and the grilled vegetarian pizza. The pasta had an eggplant-based sauce, but their version simply added fried eggplant to the sauce afterwards, which was not as good as the traditional Sicilian method where the eggplant is cooked in the rich sauce. The dish was still decent, but not as authentic as in Sicily. The pizza was average, with undercooked capsicum and tomato pieces and a slightly bitter sauce base. Hmmm, no reviews since January 2023! Must be a reason. Yep, there are. Several. Dropped in for lunch yesterday you can 't make a reservation! This is mean, not lean 'Italian '. Small servings and heavy wine prices $12 a glass and no bottles under $47 . Hamy, 'performing ' Italian waiters who seem to shout at every opportunity. Distracting to say the least when you 're trying to have a conversation. Noise levels at 1pm in side the cafe were horrendous. Add to that, there is no reference on their website that the establishment isn 't BYO embarrassing as I turned up with a bottle! nor do they publish their main dine-in food menu. This Italian eatery is friendly, casual and fabulous. You can't book so get there early 5 6 if you want to go straight in. After that, it's a matter of queuing which dozens and dozens do every night. Good interior and great exterior seating too. Food is typical Italian love the garlic prawns and the chilli mussels are great too. The food at this restaurant is fantastic! They always start you off with a small antipasto plate, and the pizza and pasta are cooked perfectly. However, the standout dish is the chili mussels - they are amazing! It's a shame that you can't make a reservation, and it feels like they rush you to make room for more customers. On the bright side, there is a good ice cream shop next door. But, did I mention how great the food is?
