Friend and I came here for refreshments following a visit to Mount St Bernard Abbey. We were glad we did. This is a surprising and immediately convivial place. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, and led to a comfortable corner table, good for chatting. We ordered a pot of tea, baked potato and a Taj Mahal scone, which was a cheesey scone wrapped round an onion bhaji with mango chutney utterly delicious! Good tasty freshly made food, and reasonable prices. I love the relaxed friendly ambiance. And some interesting bits and pieces, locally made, in the gift shop. I recommend this excellent tea shop and will return. It would be nice in summer too good outdoor space.

We visited St Joseph's tea room today following a long walk. On the plus side service and weather were very good. We ordered 2 ploughman's. What was presented to us can not be described as a ploughman a ploughman's must have bread and cheese! This had a sliced bread stick and some crackers that does not qualify. Also, the cheese was 2 small pieces of cheese, some cheddar red leicester. I would have expected Stilton maybe brie. The ingredients must have cost less than £2 not the £9.50 charged. All presented on a narrow wooden board. Pretty yes, but not what was expected.

Sorry but we found the food average and overpriced. Was looking for a ham sandwich but not on menu. The only 4 choices on there were nearly £10 each! Plumped for lemon drizzle cake and was brought Victoria sandwich. Was told by waitress that they’d run out of the chocolate cake we’d ordered but we hadn’t ordered any , only brought us 2 of the 3 drinks we had ordered and then the tiniest pot of ice cream for £4. Asked if we could have a glass of water and it was Luke warm. Not the best of experiences I’m afraid. Nice scones though

For the second year running residents (all living with some level of dementia) of a local care home enjoyed a Cream Tea. It's a celebration of International Women's Day. The fact that some of the residents remembered so fondly last year's Cream Tea were so enthusiastic to return, is testiment to the welcome delicious home baked cakes scones that Kerry her team provide. Wonderful. There is something very special about St Joseph's. If you have not yet been then go!!!!
