Compared to other fast, casual restaurants this original St. Louis Bread Company (in other cities called Panera) still has reliable soups, salads, and sandwiches and good beverages like iced tea coffee. However, it is probably HALF as good as it was 5 or 10 years ago. The automated ordering system takes too long and can be odd to navigate. The food quality preparation seems blah, and the staff was disinterested. I could not get the person who was preparing my food to answer a simple question. I had a really unpleasant experience at the restaurant on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022, due to a staff member named Valeria (who has red hair). She was extremely disrespectful and rude, even yelling at me because she prepared my drink incorrectly. It was upsetting to witness her cursing at me behind the cooking area while the café was packed with people. My daughter was terrified and in tears, worried that something bad would happen. About 1:15pm I was in buying a muffin and had a very customer friendly man waiting on me. Twice during service individuals were trying to pull him away and when I walked in another women employee was yelling at him in public! Very unprofessional!! While hewas waiting on me I heard cursing and a lot of yelling coming from the back room, again unprofessional!! It was so load theyoung customer being waited on next to me gave me a look showing how uncomfortable she was with all the screening going on.Please check the camera?s and hopefully the have the sound! Came in on a Monday morning to get a pastry before work. I waited 20 minutes, and left with nothing. There’s no one working the counter. You have to order using a tablet. If you ask anyone for their attention or help, they are put out by it. I ordered a soufflé, which sits right out with all the other baked goods. I waited 20 minutes until I was texted that my order was ready. I had to flag down three people to find my order. And then they told me it wasn’t actually ready and I’d have to wait another 15 minutes. For a pastry that I should’ve walked out with in under five minutes. Not going back to this location.

Panera is a coffee and bread place. The coffee is horrible. It is either (a) out or (b) horrible or both. The food is so so; but when we arrived at 2pm, the tables needed to be wiped off. There was coffee spilled all around the dispensers, and the place just looked generally messy. On the other hand, our order-taker was quite pleasant, and she's been busy stacking dishes, removing dishes, and exhibiting qualities of a great employee. Service: Dine in
Now, a year later, things have only gotten worse. How is it possible for them to consistently run out of basic items? Today, they were out of baguettes and bread bowls. It's astonishing that a place called Bread Co can run out of bread!

I waited 15 minutes just to pick up a Cobb salad for my mom. When she opened it, I was really disappointed to find that there was no chicken on it at all.
