Roughly 4.5km from Freiburg centre but you wouldn't guess you are so close to town. We hiked there at lunchtime and shared Flammkuchen (tarte flambée) and drank some much needed cold beers. Friendly service, lots of families with young kids. They do cake and icecream, lots of vegetarian and vegan options too with locally sourced products as well as more traditional meat dishes. Lovely views over the Black Forest. Right next to a chapel dedicated to St. Odile dating from around 1700, which is currently undergoing renovation (scaffolding). We sat outside but there are plenty of tables inside should the weather be bad - very rustic interior with lots of wood.

this caffe is located in the middle of the forest near the freeburg city, they can either drive there with the car or 30 minutes through the beautiful forest (under a very comfortable way.) I was there twice, in the early year and in the summer. it is a beautiful wood house with a beautiful panoramic view when sitting outside. eating is very good - e.g. rumpsteak, frammkuchen (typically for French elsas area close) as well as local bath wines. personal is very friendly, prices very reasonable, atmosphere excellent!
This cafe is located in the middel of forest nearby Freiburg city, you can either drive there by a car or walk 30 min through the nice forest (along a quite comfortable path). I was there twice, in the spring and in the summer. It is a nice wooden house with a beautiful panorama view if you sit outside. The food is very good--e.g. rumpsteak, frammkuchen (typical for french Elsas area nearby) as well as local Baden wines. Staff is very friendly, prices very reasonable, atmosphere excellent!

we wandered from Freiburg and found this place just in time for lunch and for our aching feet. it is a great location in the heart of the black forest. it serves authentic German eating in a magnificent outdoor environment. I had the bad three sausage salad. while my wife had a cauliflower soup. where many other options and some good beer and wine options. they don't have to walk, they just follow the locals who drive to Sunday dinner.
We walked through the forest from Freiburg and were able to follow small signs along the road. A fantastic walk, and a delicious meal when we reached the restaurant. So good that we made reservations for brunch on Sunday and will enjoy walking up the hill again...and this time knowing what awaits us!
after a 5 kilometers long walk through the forest of Freiburg we arrived here where a pint of furstenberg was well received, followed by weiner schnitzel and chips. I couldn't have wanted anything better. the service was good and sat outside with view. the forest was idyllic.
Leckeres Essen, Spielplatz, kein Durchgangsverkehr, schöne Aussicht auf die Berge und die Bäume, trotzdem ist man schnell wieder in der Stadt. Wir saßen entspannt draußen und die Kinder konnten sich nach dem Essen selbst beschäftigen.

Klasse Pommes mit veganer Mayo und Ketchup. Gibt auch immer mindestens ein veganes Gericht. Sehr schöner Außenbereich. Es gibt einen schönen kleinen Wanderpfad durch den Wald zur Gaststätte.
