What a lovely evening. The food truck was there but the main Chef-a lady was cooking inside the bottom of the Yacht club itself as her Husband could not be there that evening. Hubby had the pancko breaded fish with a homemade dill tarter sauce and homemade coleslaw with cranberries, I had a beef sandwich with onions and a great au jus and a spinich salad that was awesome with fresh strawberries. Dessert was homemade peanut butter pie. Each entree was $12! sure beat the $45 lobster dinner prices. We took the food upstairs to the landing and enjoyed the view overlooking the Baddeck Harbor and watched the sunset while a guy played great Irish music on his guitar and we could also here the bagpi...
This is a food truck co-located with the Baddeck Yacht Club located in the Baddeck marina. There is a relatively small menu with the food cooked on order. I had the East Coast Donair while my wife had the Haddock wrap. You had a choice of sides - F Fries, spinach salad or tasty cold slaw. Both dishes were delicious at a reasonable price (approx $12 pp) excluding non-alcoholic drinks. For those not wanting to eat standing up, you can sit down either inside or on the patio of the Yacht Club enjoying the splendid view of the Bras d'or Lakes. This place was recommended by family and he was absolutely right in his recommendation.
This is a really great food truck, with mostly excellent ingredients. But like so many other places in Cape Breton, they only use crappy, artificial, processed cheese. I don't think a lot of establishments realize what message they're sending to customers when they use corner-cutting, cheap ingredients like that. There are actually artisanal cheese producers on the island. Imagine the reputation this otherwise gourmet food truck could get if they supported local cheese producers instead of serving their customers chemical orange goo.
Food truck par excellence! The rueben was the best ever with a beautiful salad (not coleslaw). Pity they had run out of haddock so I had a sreak and mushroom wrap which was great, with yummy potato wedges rather than fries. (Get thete ahead of the tour bus).The food really had a different edge, not just your standard hamburgers. And the lovely staff speak fluent Aussie! Situated right on the premises of the Bras 'd Or Yacht Club, this meals-on wheels deal is a "roach coach" of the highest order, spotlessly clean and not a roach spotted. Terrific made-to-order food kit for a king or queen. We loved the giant grilled cheese burger and home fries, easily big enough to split. Very friendly service, and lots of smiles the customers' faces. Not cheap but a great value.
We were seated at another restaurant across the street from this food truck. Service was so slow that we walked out and came over here...sooo glad we did! We ordered the beef tacos, haddock wrap and home fries. All was delicious and served up with a smile and pleasant conversation with the owner as the food was prepared. We ate the meals on the nearby wharf. Highly recommend!
We had heard good things about the food truck so we popped in and it was so worth it! I had the haddock wrap and salad and my husband had the reuben, and all of it was incredible. It was bright and fresh and the portions were perfect, best haddock wrap ever! Highly recommended!
