Star of India is hands down my favorite place for Indian food. I’ve never had a bad experience here, and the food is amazing every single time. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel right at home whether you’re eating in or picking up takeout. The restaurant itself is really nice too, so dining in is always a good time. If you’re grabbing takeout, their website makes it easy to order, and I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes when picking up. As for the food, it’s the best!! I used to make chicken tikka masala at home, but after trying theirs, I stopped (why bother when they do it ten times better? Some of my other favorites are the chicken balti, lamb biryani, eggplant pak...
They got a 5/5 with 5 exclamation points.. easily!!!!! I had the butter chicken and garlic butter naan. I've been on this Indian cuisine kick for a couple of months, so I've tried 4 different restaurants before Star of India! The search is over! There's no comparison. The dish was very delicious, every bite was flavorful! I was pleasantly greeted as I walked through the door; I felt welcomed. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. I can't wait to go back, but I have one complaint, and that is they need to open sooner than later
Omg, the best Indian food I have ever had in the whole world! 11/10 honestly said my friend Sam. We thought it was super cute inside. We got the dinner for two bc of how hungry we were and it was more than enough for 2 people. You could honestly split it with 3. Everyone was so sweet, our waitress even gave us a hug after our dinner, she was so kind. All their soups, samosas, lassis, masalas, curries, breads, deserts, and teas are amazing! Will be back!!
I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and understanding of my gluten allergy. They showed me on the menu what is safe for me to eat. I had the mild chicken karahi which honestly I could’ve made it a medium because it wasn’t spicy at all and didn’t have that much flavor. I would come back to try their other dishes.

I love to come here because they have an extensive vegan menu and I like the vegan appetizers bhagee. I wish the samosas were vegan!! The food is amazing! Good lunch specials too and easy to order online love the menu has photos online and easy to see what you’re getting and clearly marked vegan/nondairy options !
This place is amazing! I’ve ordered take out twice since moving to Royal Oak and it’s some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had! Highly recommend this place! Food is fresh and the customer service is great : also they are accommodating to my food allergy which is amazing!!!
Our server was extremely polite and welcoming. Made us almost feel at home. Was very helpful in answering questions about the items on the menu. Food was incredible and in large quantities. Couldn’t recommend this place more! Will surely come again when we’re in Ferndale.
Star of India has excellent service, and more importantly, the people appeared happy to serve. The taste was authentic and favorable!
