STEAM is conveniently located in downtown Palo Alto on a bustling street with great outdoor seating. The interior is bright and airy with plenty of natural light. Street parking is readily available around the restaurant. The food is delicious and flavorful. I tried the beef basil dish, which was tender and packed with flavor. The basil added a nice touch to the dish, balancing out the seasoning of the meat. The brown rice on the side helped to complement the savory flavors of the beef. I had a great dinner at Steam with a friend and was so happy to see their gluten free options! I was able to have steam buns (ask for gluten free) and one of the rice noodle dishes safely as someone with celiac, and they have gluten free soy sauce available. Some items are marked gluten free on the menu, but others are available on request. It was a bit confusing when we got there because no one was at the greeting stand, but we ended up following another group and just walking right in to the bar area to ask to be seated.

Steam is centrally located on the main part of University Ave. It's modern clean with open kitchen. For the price, I was not very impressed with the beef chow fun dish for lunch. Maybe it was an off day. I also don't think service was up to par.

limited vegan options, they are not marked on the menu, it was on the expensive side, eating was good, but not the best
