Stossplatz is right next to the train station and only a short walk to town. Price is reasonable by Swiss standards and includes breakfast. The staff do not speak English, but they are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are simple, but comfortable. If you're traveling in summer, they have roll-down metal blinds (Germans call them rolladen) to shut out the light (it's light until around 10pm and gets light around 4am.) Free wifi in the lobby and in the rooms. No lift (elevator,) but it's only a few floors. Appenzell is a quaint little Swiss town. We were lucky and were treated to a free concert of Swiss music at the Rathaus (town hall) above the Tourist Information Center. Worth a day trip.
on recommendation we have visited this gas house with an uncomplicated and cheerful doll with 16 people. in advance we had to book a menu.Siedwurst with aelpplermacaroni. this included suppe, salat and dessert. for double price from the most expensive daily! the best was the Fledish soup! the victorious was a prophecy unfit. salat with ready sauce.Aelpermaceroni consisted of cooked pastry without appenzell cheese, speck and wobble. the service was pure experience gastronomy, comparable to eating! I could dispense with the caramelköpfli and left the local after paying the abzocker price fluchtlike. the rest of the truppet made good babe to...Nie again!
Unter einem Hotel verstehe ich etwas anderes. Die Zimmer haben den Charme einer Gefängniszelle aus den 60er Jahren. Check in ab 16.00 Uhr wäre ja ok, nur früher kann man garnicht kommen um sein Gepäck zu deponieren da niemand dort ist. Am Morgen musst du um 10.00 Uhr gehen weil alles wieder abgeschlossen ist! Der Höhepunkt dieser Katastrophe ist allerdings das Bad/Toilette. Die in hobbymäsigem Eigenbau gezimmerte Falttür schliesst nicht, was für den Mitteisenden bei der Toiletten Benutzung wirklich alles andere als angenehm ist! Denn es gibt keinen Abzug im Bad!!
Rooms are very small. Bathroom was tiny but had a tub/shower. Rare in Switzerland. Have to close door to use the sink. No elevator to the second floor. No fridge or coffee maker. Two chairs and small table. No desk area. Good closet space. Restaurant downstairs was very reasonable. No lobby as this is a Restaurant /Hotel. Average Swiss breakfast of cold cuts,cheese,bread and fruit. Free parking. Located right next to train station. Noise was an issue,especially early AM. At a cost of 140Euro it was not a value. Would pay more to stay elsewhere in Appenzell.
