Stovell's - Reservar una mesa

We had the tasting menu and pairing wines. Food and wine were excellent but service not up to usual standards, we were pressured to leave the bar,where we were enjoying an aperitif, to sit at our table but we then didn’t receive any food or drinks for 15 minutes. It’s a shame Pepe is no longer there keeping control of service, the special little touches weren’t there. The sommelier brought our wine, left it and rushed away. On the third one I asked if it was not normal to tell us about each wine, he said he normally would but they were too busy! However he did after that.

This was Stovells' first lunch after a long break. The menu did not reflect what was available: no venison, no fresh fish. This made the choice very restricted. We chose the chateaubriand which was tough and over-priced. We should have stuck with the roast beef, since we would not have had to pay extra for the vegetables. The starter was good; the dessert was okay-ish.

Absolutely top class, food was amazing and beautifully presented too. I loved their gin which they distill themselves. Fab service in a lovely relaxed setting. I shall definitely be returning.

with menu descriptions confiscated against what came out on the teller. butter solid, large sourded, room cold as the red wine.
