I live in Yarm and often use this coffee shop with friends and family . The standard of service and quality of food particularly has been very poor recently. Whilst I understand everyone is experiencing problems recruiting staff this particular establishment has built a reputation...for quality food and service . The staff I’ve unfortunately experienced seem to lack even the basic knowledge of customer service . A warm cheese scone was asked for it arrived cold with cold coffee ,both were sent back and the member of staff shook her head at me , the scones which used to be amazing are now vey doughy and tasteless. Yarm has many other establishments which are cheaper and have better food …end...
We stood and waited at the entrance to be seated while the staff appeared busy behind the counter. Eventually, we were able to sit down. The Full English breakfast was quite good. However, the "Zimt" toast was terrible. It consisted of dry, bland brown toast covered in a powdery cinnamon mixture. It was the worst thing I have had in a long time. I took one bite and left it untouched. The service was poor as the staff seemed too busy to provide proper customer service. They did not even ask if everything was satisfactory during our meal.
I just wanted to say how well they are all doing at this restaurant. It was obvious that everyone was working hard to serve their customers. I visited yesterday and today, and even though they were busy (not surprising since they were the only small business open on a bank holiday), they really excelled! I haven't seen such hard work in a long time. It's definitely tough times with the recent spike in Covid cases, so it's a shame that some customers don't appreciate their efforts. Keep up the good work!
Very poor today, thought the business had changed hands. Very limited choice of menu and also poor value. A pre made salad with ham Nothing special. Sandwiches Ran out of granary bread only white bread. Stopped serving food at only cakes available....However my biggest concern was the lady chef who kept popping out of the kitchen. Her uniform both top and trousers were absolutely filthy and this was not just today’s dirt they were set in. Expect better of Strickland and Holt.

I reported the poor service a while ago and in recent weeks it has improved a bit. Yes it was busy (and yes it must therefore be me), good logistics is not difficult and cope peaks and troughs. However, the cardinal error of poor service...is allowing people to ‘jump’ the queue and to do so by commission because they ‘know’ staff. This is unacceptable and really lessens the experience puts me off wanting to visit again. Sad but true
We visited for the first time since the restrictions were lifted and were disappointed. The service was fine but the prices have increased quite a bit. for a ham and cheese toastie with side salad is not very competitive with others cafes in the...high street. Also the cakes used to be wonderful they were again very average. Sadly, we have to agree with some other recent reviewers we won’t be back.
I just came home on the first day of the Christmas Fair. well organized with a beautiful atmosphere and a few really good eating. the marquee is a great addition: this has taken many sittings under cover, which meant that the rain does not harass us at all. the singer was excellent and ensured great entertainment. well worth a visit and will definitely be back for more of these food fairs!
The normal standard of customer service missing today. I know it’s hard and you may have new staff but it doesn’t cost and it makes reputations. Not delivered and reputations can be wasted. I will return as I also hope an acceptable standard of service...will

In your cafe this month I heard one of your staff shouting rudely at another younger member of staff, who was noticeably upset. really bad atmosphere and ruined our experience. Won’t be returning. Sort your managers out !
