I have been a patron of Suburb for many years, since its opening, and I have always had positive experiences. However, my recent visit was extremely disappointing. We had made a reservation for 5 people, but only three of us had arrived on time. Within ten minutes, the waitress/owner rudely informed us that we needed to order our food immediately because our table was needed. We were not informed about any time restrictions when making the reservation, and the service felt rushed and disorganized. It seemed as though they had overbooked. I visited this oasis for a coffee a sandwich. Situated in urban area of Rochdale provides a warm, friendly cafe with beautiful range of sandwiches and salads along with wide range of cold and hot drinks. I opted for a Illy’s Cappuccino which tasted smooth and delicious. Ordered a steak baguette with onions, cheese and jalapeno peppers on a toasted baguette served with a side salad. Also ordered a large bottle of locally sourced water. Ambiance was warm friendly supported with polite team who greet you with a warm authentic smile. Busy Cafe frequented by locals visitors like. Not surprised. A gem. Congratulations to the team!
We dropped in for lunch in November which was our first visit. Our drinks arrived quickly but there was a lengthy wait for food given they were about half full. The service was otherwise friendly the venue is warm welcoming. The food itself was of a good standard but I would have to say overpriced. It’s London pricing but in a local neighbourhood cafe/bar. On balance we probably wouldn’t return.
Overheard a group raving about this place and thought we would give it a try, it did not disappoint! The staff and service were great and the food delicious. The menu may seem fairly small but each dish (we tried lots between us) was beautifully fresh and well thought out. Seasonal ingredients were brought to life with some less usual additions such as pickled walnuts, we will be back!
I’ve been to Suburb many times for breakfast/brunch and was delighted to be invited to a baby shower here on Sunday afternoon. We arrived at 3pm and the place looked great. The afternoon tea was one of the best around and the staff were lovely/attentive. You could even have a Prosecco on arrival. Thanks for a great afternoon.
The food was enjoyable and tasted homemade, but the prices were extremely high. I was surprised by the cost, especially considering that even restaurants in Wilmslow don't charge as much. Unfortunately, the high prices and added service charge would prevent me from returning.
