Quality fish and quality service everytime. Sugarfish has the best fish in town. The fish is always buttery and melts in my mouth, in the best way possible. I get the trust me nozawa which is pretty filling. It can be expensive, so I tend to only visit Sugarfish in the lunch time. The prices are significantly less during lunch. The quality of the fish, paired with the garlic ponzu sauce, hot rice, and room-temperature fish, was simply outstanding. Each piece of nigiri was not only visually stunning, but the flavor was equally delightful—it truly was a flavor explosion. We went at a bit of an odd time, right between lunch and dinner, which meant we didn't have to wait long, making for a more relaxed experience. COVID UPDATE: Don't forget to bring a mask. Opting for the “Nozawa — Trust Me” option will set you back around $50 per person, making this place on the expensive side if you're after the best. But trust me, it's absolutely worth it. The service was outstanding, and the food was so delicious it could ruin other sushi for you. Street parking can be a hassle, but the meters in Manhattan Beach accept credit cards. We visited for lunch and were seated right away. I’d give it a 10/10 and will definitely return after a 20-mile bike ride.
This place did not impress me at all. The sushi was far from good. The rice was so loose that I couldn't even pick up the sushi with chopsticks, let alone dip it in soy sauce. The quality of the fish was underwhelming and nothing special. I ordered the "trust me" option and still left hungry after my meal. I would much prefer to spend my money at a legitimate Japanese restaurant that truly understands sushi, rather than this disappointing experience.
The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and the food is fresh! While it is a bit on the expensive side for the portion sizes, the deliciousness of the food makes it worth it, just like PEMDAS! The servers are also very friendly and have a great sense of humor. Overall, I had a fantastic experience!
