There is no shortage of top-notch third wave coffee shops in the St. Louis metro area, but this one tops them all. This is one of the best roasters in the Midwest, if not the country. I’ve only explored their house espresso blend, but it is absolutely amazing, with absolutely the perfect balance of acidity, fruitiness, and floral notes to drink on its own or to punch through a little bit of steamed milk. The drinks crafted at the coffee bar are incredible. Every shot I’ve ever had a barista pull here has been perfection, and the milk is always impeccably textured. Updating my review from the previous paragraph below. Stopped back at Sump with my fiancé and had a much better experience than the last time. The staff was super kind, helpful, and friendly. The chocolate croissant was incredible and their Matcha latte was really good! The vibes in here were really cool! The coffee was delicious. Even if the coffee absolutely sucked (which it doesn’t), the atmosphere makes up for it. It is in a part of town with beautiful historic houses and feels almost as if you’re walking into a cafe in Paris. What a great shop! This is definitely specialty coffee. They care about the quality of their drinks and coffee beans a lot! It really says a lot walking into a coffee shop and they have a pour steady running constantly for pour overs! I decided to get an espresso from Colombia and it was delicious! Balanced and incredibly enjoyable! I ended up getting a second drink which was a cappuccino. Milk texture was great, very delicious. The atmosphere was remarkable as well. It was a chill and perfect to chat with a friend or take yourself out for a nice coffee haha. The chocolate croissant was also phenomenal. Maybe not an important note but I love their branding haha

Great coffeehouse all around, but I'd like to focus on their espresso. They are incredibly unique because of their espresso. If you're an espresso lover who struggles to find a coffee shop pulling espresso that's flavorful and interesting congratulations on your good fortune at finding Sump. If you find the idea of consuming a plain espresso shot gross than forget all you think you know about what espresso shots are supposed to taste like and give Sump a try. A new favorite place! I can't believe I hadn't tried this coffee shop sooner. I had the chocolate lavender coffee, and it was fantastic. I also enjoyed some delicious banana chocolate cookies, which come in a pack of four. The atmosphere inside is lovely, and there are plenty of outdoor tables to sit at. I'll definitely be returning! Update 3/31/23: It's still one of my top picks in St. Louis! I really enjoy the new Tagalong coffee. Unfortunately, the Ethiopian beans I bought here recently were too hard for my burr grinder and ended up jamming it. I still love this coffee shop, though!

Absolutely! The cappuccino was fantastic, and the apple gouda scone was truly delicious. I have to admit, I was a bit unsure about the scone at first, but it sounded so intriguing that I had to try it. I’m glad I did—it did not let me down at all! The scone was wonderfully flaky on the inside and had a nice crunch on top. It was so good, it felt like it might have been deep-fried! A slightly sticky, sweet drizzle added the perfect touch. The cappuccino was delightful as well, and I would definitely return in a heartbeat.

A good coffee shop burrowed in the St.Louis neighborhood. I went with a Iced Salted Maple Latte with a blueberry muffin. Both tasted great! The vibe of the shop is very hipster with a slight rocker vibe to it. A very busy coffee shop too! While we were waiting for our order a good 15ish new people came in to place orders. The service was a tad slow but understandable considering the high traffic. Overall a great coffee shop.

Interesting and impressive decor using wood. The service was excellent. 2 rooms, the main area, and a smaller undecorated room in the back. Small patio in front. Coffee tasted great! Be aware that the coffee sizes are a little smaller than you might expect. My latte was about 8-10 oz. Surrounding neighborhood is not the safest, but then again, it's St Louis city, so be aware. This place was fantastic! I was in town for work, and I'm really going to miss this coffee shop. The espresso and the way they craft their drinks are top-notch. I highly recommend the banana stand espresso; it's a solid 10 out of 10. Also, I grabbed a cute canvas bag as a keepsake to remember this wonderful spot!

Visiting St Louis and needed to try out a local coffee shop. I had a caramel bourbon latte and it tasted so good! The latte was well made with awesome latte art.
