unfortunately tonight my wife and i had one of our unexpected lack of customer service care and responses in our 5 years of restaurants all over the world. After entering the waitress was cordial and I greet her in thai and she reacted. there was only 1 couple in the entire restaurant when we arrived so that the huge tables were open to our choice. before we went to the place, I spent some time to explain that 2 weeks earlier I had stomach surgery and we were down from the country as it was obviously from our country in rent together with my akubra and in melbourne. As we walked in to a dining room reasonable but not large we stood around for a bit long enough to discuss among ourselves 1. Are we welcome here? Or do they not like 'walk in ' patrons? 2. Should we just help ourselves to a...table? 3. Should we just walk out? 4. Who are the staff members? 5. Do we have to approach the bench? (Where there was a s cashier standing there) Someone finally happened to come by and say hello and asked how many will be dining. We were led to a table. Again sat around for a few minutes until we happened to see where the stock of menu books were. So we helped ourselves to that rather than twiddle our thumbs any longer. Altona is lacking cheap-and-cheerful dining options for dinner, but even in that context Sunset Thai is pushing the limits for the prices it charges. The food is okay. Red curry with duck had nice flavours, and papaya salad carried a spicy kick. Staff are friendly...when they interact. But $5 for a roti bread plus an extra $4 for peanut sauce or garlic spread? $25 for a salt and pepper calamari? Dinner for five people cost $140 and that included a little one just having entree spring rolls and water for everyone. I would not choose to go here again, but as the only Pier St restaurant north of the train line that is open for dinner it will probably keep on gouging the locals.

We have been there with friends. The food is good but a little expensive compared to other places in CBD. One dish of prawn pad Thai about 22 dollars. The other dishes between 19 and 25 dollars. Service is good and very fast. It would...have been appreciated some music in background especially because when we were there, there was nobody. The vibe is nice, just a little of effort with music (not loud music) especially when there are no people. As it was walking distance from where we lived, my wife and I would sometime come here as we didn't need to drive. That was the only advantage. Food is very mediocre mainly due to the very cheap ingredients they use here. The prices are...high for the standard of food they dish up. It's nice and the people who run it are nice also but this is basically food court standard of food at a 4 star restaurant price. Keep away

I ordered tofu satay, vegetables, and vegetarian pad thai with steamed rice. Unfortunately, most of the food ended up in the takeout container. The dishes were not authentic and of poor quality. The vegetables seemed to be mostly cauliflower and the pad thai was mostly noodles. I will not be returning to this restaurant. The total cost was $42.00 after a discount for paying in cash.

red curry escape what a sweat three pieces skin and sick sweet supposed red curry, the first time that I went there about two months ago and eating was not the best, but gave them the advantage of the doubt, will never go...back overpriced and feel completely demolished, even if I manage to tell them a word

The decor was lovely, the service was friendly and efficient, and the food was of high quality and delicious. The atmosphere was beautiful and not overly noisy like many popular restaurants. Overall, it was a good experience with great food. Reserva una mesa ahora

We entered the restaurant at 7pm and left 25 minutes later without placing an order because no one came to serve us, despite the wait staff passing by our table multiple times to deliver food to other customers. We will not be returning.

Gang Dang was delicious! And then we had the banana fritter and we died and went to heaven. I agree it's a bit pricey and the house sav Blanc was too sweet! But the flavours were outstanding!
