Located in a strip mall, this place does have the best sushi in the area (that doesn't say much) but the fish is fresher than the rest, much better than the high end sushi eatery on the other end of the strip mall, better selection as well. Ambiance....well there is none, the place is often dirty, but once again the food is pretty good. The issue I have is with the service, we placed our order for food, a couple of rolls and soup, nothing super fancy. I'm happy to say that without a doubt, my theory held. My visit to Sushi House was definitely unplanned.. I didn't even plan to eat that day, but I made it with lots of time to spare so figured why not? I ordered off the Lunch menu, which, sadly, I didn't get a picture of. This past Friday we ordered takeout from Sushi House and settled in at home to watch movies. It started off well, but then I bit into a piece of one of the sushi rolls and there was a weird texture in my mouth. It was a hair! Dinner abruptly ended at that point. We are frequent customers at Sushi House and have loved it until now, so I didn’t want to contact them while I was so upset. I decided to wait until the next morning so I could respond in a calm, rational manner. I emailed Sushi House, told them what happened and asked for a full or partial refund. My family and I have traveled numerous times across the Golden Ears bridge from Surrey to visit this sushi restaurant. I even brought my parents and they were very impressed. The staff, including the skilled sushi chef, are always friendly and welcoming. As a family of 5, we always order the Hawaiian Crunch Roll, which is our favorite, as well as the Awesome Alaska Roll, Tiger Roll, Miso soup, and occasionally I indulge in the assorted special Sashimi. I consider myself a semi-regular at this sushi place. I definitely schedule trips to Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows around meal times or change meal times to take in this restaurant. The quality of the sashimi is consistently high and there are lots of rolls with original twists. (My current favourite is the Chef 's Roll with spicy salmon and a seared scallop on top) The gomae has both crunch and bite to it. The cooked salmon dishes are excellent. Small establishment, but great, fresh Japanese food. Extensive dine-in or take-out menu. Eaten here many times; staff is friendly and service is fast. They offer three lunch specials $4.99 to $5.95) which are ready quickly for those with little time. Original creations including: Maple Ridge roll, Caterpillar roll, and Hawaiian Crunch to name a few, but there are many others! Fortunately, there are large pictures to help make your decision. Everything we have ordered has been excellent. We will be back!
These guys really rocked it for me this weekend. We stopped in for some Sunday morning munchies and ordered some rather strange looking specials. They were amazing! The food tasted great, the server was really friendly, and the cook looked like he really took pride in his work. You could really taste it in the food and see it in the presentation. Awesome work guys, keep it up!
I was disappointed with the sushi restaurant as I found it to be subpar compared to many others I have visited over the years. The flavors were bland and did not leave me satisfied. The service was decent, but the atmosphere could use some updating and personality. Overall, this establishment did not meet my expectations.
