I’ve visited Sweet Sassafras twice during the Dark Mofo festival (2018/19), and both times the food and coffee were outstanding. The coffee is excellent—perfect even for Melbourne coffee enthusiasts (I must admit, I am one!). The service is wonderful, with friendly staff who are easy to chat with. The atmosphere is charming, featuring cozy, retro-inspired decor that feels casual and inviting. The toasted sandwich was exactly what you want in a toastie—artisan bread, cheese, and relish, all without any greasiness.
