I really enjoyed the Burns' Night Supper on my birthday. The haggis was the star of the show obviously. It wasn't authentic haggis, thanks to our government banning the consumption of livestock lungs. On my recent trip to Scotland in October of 2023 I was able to have haggis, and this Sylvan Table version was different but excellent! My favorite is the dessert shortbread and cranachan, just delightful after a wonderful dinner. The finnan haddie salad was a little disappointing. The smoked haddock was very, un-smocked. They could have used locally sourced smoked lake trout or smoked white fish with better results. Just my opinion. I really enjoyed the experience and look forward to going back...
Beautiful location and ambiance. Food had moments where it struggled for us for example, dessert was rough, but the server removed it from our bill without us even asking. The open kitchen was very cool to watch the action, but then there were moments I wish I hadn't seen (like servers and runners eating food with their hands, not washing them, and then touching guest plates). The whole trout was the best thing we had and seasoned beautifully, the potato dauphinoise was undercooked in the middle, and the rice pudding was nearly frozen. Hope to come back and see how they do with a spring menu.
Beautiful farmhouse design. The lighting in the evening sets the mood and is so romantic. Our server was friendly and welcoming. We had a table but sitting at the well-lit bar would even be nice. The butter options for the bread service were an excellent variety, the beef short rib was tender and the gnocchi were large in size and savory. It’s the first time in a long time that I didn’t take photos because I was in the moment. I’ll be back soon to make up for it!
We went to the pop up and the inside after as well. Service was perfect, chili was just great, hearty and just what I wanted. Inside had oysters, bread, and the gnocchi, again food was above expectations. Service inside was also equally superior to other restaurants in this price range. Really a perfect evening all around.
