It started off on a bad note when I asked for one wine from their list, which they did not have, asked a second, ditto, they did not have it available. Ok, I calm down and ask for a recommendation. It turned out to be a pleasant wine. I'm not sure he got my hint though that you should not fill the glass close to the rim.Then, we inquired about the charcuterie plate, what they call the mixta iberico, which I felt was somewhat expensive at $20 but I thought it would at least be a nice plate and especially that the waiter said it would be more than enough for 4 people. So I'm Portuguese... so I had to say that my standards were a tiny bit higher then average. I have to say that people that rated this more then 3 stars for sure never had Portuguese food or are friends of the owner.. the cod fish croquettes were more like potatoes croquettes and the meat croquettes were far from being anything that a Portuguese would call a meat croquette, it was more like an over fried battered piece of steak... we ordered soup that was ok and a platter of 20$ cold cuts that was really nothing special. Also had the Prego (steak sandwich )and chicken. The sandwich was greasy and boiled. The chicken dry like no tomorrow. We asked for some kind of sauce for they called Piri pi...

Siamo stati in questo ristorante come ultimo giorno della nostra visita in Canada. Eravamo molto stanchi del solito steak frites e Poutine che si trova da queste parti. In più volevamo visitare il vecchio quartiere. E così passeggiando abbiamo scoperto questo delizioso ristorantino portoghese. Qualche piccola difficoltà nel capire il nome dei piatti (in portoghese), ma l'accoglienza è stata fantastica e ci siamo seduti più che curiosi di testare questo locale. Abbiamo mangiato delle squisite crocchette di carne e di pesce un ottimo pollo ed uno strepitoso chorizo. Per finire ovviamente la pasteis de nata ed un conto più che accettabile, visto che siamo in Canada.

Wir bekamen diesen Insidertipp von unserem Tourguide am Vormittag, da sich dieses portugiesische Restaurant nicht ganz im Touristenzentrum befindet, jedoch vom Hafen aus zu Fuß auch gut erreichbar. Essen war super - unbedingt das Poutine probieren - und die Atmosphäre total nett. Es waren auch viele Einheimische zu dem Zeitpunkt im Restaurant, was ja ein gutes Zeichen ist. Service war sehr bemüht und das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt auf jeden Fall. Wir wären gerne noch ein zweites Mal hingegangen, wenn wir nicht am nächsten Tag abgereist wären. We first stopped in here for dessert after leaving a restaurant where we'd had terrible service. The doughnuts with caramel sauce were delicious, even though they didn't have my first choice of wine, the one I did end up with was lovely.A few days later we came for lunch I had the best poutine I had in Canada (and I tried quite a few) it was delicious and possibly the best thing I ate in 3 weeks in Canada. I would definitely recommend it.

Taberna is located in charming old Montreal. It is the best Portuguese chicken I have had outside of Portugal. It has a very simple menu so making decisions is very easy.For 15 dollars you get a half a chicken,fries and salad. Awesome value. Also they serve famous Montreal style putine.Fantastic service and reasonable drinks and wine.

Nous avons très bien dîné dans ce restaurant de spécialités portugaises. Le service était parfait. J'ai beaucoup aimé la rue où il est situé. Nous y sommes allés 2 fois et avons pu dîner sur le trottoir la deuxième fois : c'était très agréable. Les plats sont bons et pas trop chers. Un endroit à découvrir.

After a day of touring Montreal, hubby and I were walking along St Paul street, looking at different restaurants menus and we decided to give this small place a try. The service was friendly and efficient. I had the chicken and hubby had fish. Both were delicious. This place is definitely worth a try. Reserva una mesa ahora

Our family stumbled upon this little restaurant and couldn't have been happier. Our waitress was wonderful! Friendly, accommodating, and knowledgable. The olives and beans to begin with were delicious! But the entire table agreed that the tomato salad is amazing!

I like the cozy ambiance. The chicken plate was delicious! The only negative point is that the restaurant has no air-conditioning system on.
