Tableau Bar Bistro

The food here is the star of the show. Wow! I came in here for lunch last week -with my hubby and sis in law. When we arrived our table wasnt ready, so we were sat in the lobby of the hotel - after about 10 minutes we got our table. The restaurant was still packed, and the place was loud - loud but energetic. Our server was excellent. Friendly - kind, and very knowledgeable on the food. I ordered the gnocchi, and i was unlike anything I had ever eaten before - Not standard pillows of pasta/potato, these were more like whipped potatoes in a medallion shape with a crust. SO SO GOOD. The other dishes on the table looked beautiful and by all accounts were delicious. Delicately executed dishes. Its no wonder this place is consistently busy at lunch and dinner. They make use of every inch of the seating in there but the food and service are worth it. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and preparation. Amazing little place.

We stayed five nights at the Loden hotel and entirely enjoyed our three meals at Tableau. The chef has totally mastered the art of French bistro cuisine and we found every dish to be delicious including the simple green side salad. Ingredients are obviously selected with care and the presentation is artful.The decor and ambience are quietly sophisticated and the outdoor patio is great for people watching on Melville which is a one way street and never overly busy.The staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. If we lived in the neighbourhood, we would make Tableau our regular hang out.
