I hadn't been to Tahoe Joes for 20 years so decided to take wife to Tahoe Joe's for Sunday dinner. We ended up being seated in the bar after a 10 minute wait. There were six other people in the bar chatting and watching sports. Bar did not seem busy. After another 10 minutes server, Brittani, came over to ask what drinks we wanted. She then stopped and chatted with a couple seated right next to us for another 10 minutes. Our orders were finally taken. We discovered they have an all day happy hour in the bar on Sundays. Unfortunately this was the second mediocre service dinner. Many seasoned servers have changed jobs since the pandemic and understand food service as I am in that industry as well. Food was tasty, drinks took a great deal of time to get. Our server was nice. And he was shocked as I was when I found some plastic in my food. I gave him the item and he went back to inform the team. He said my meal would be comped per manager., I said that was very nice of them. We continued with our meal (group of 5). A good steakhouse! If you follow me on Google reviews, you know that I don't spend five star reviews very often. Eat: We had dinner for two and had both their steaks. My steak literally melted in my mouth. I never had such delicate meat in my whole life. That says something I grew up on a farm. With real ingredients that gave me no kind of corn reaction from my corn allergy. The alcoholic beverage was very sugary and could not taste the alcohol at all. Been dining here for years as regular, while dining in the food quality and service is usually great. I have been consistently disappointed with the food quality with both take out and delivery. The baked potatoes are hard like they have been setting in the oven overnight or microwaved, we ask for extra rolls and never get them, last night the rolls were hard and crunchy like large croutons. I truly understand the staffing and turnover issues we are having, I believe this management team can get this addressed, until this will not be my first delivery or take out option and will see you as we dine in only until then.

Unfortunate we didn?t have a good experience. Nothing special about the steak (not tender neither). The witter forgot to bring the bread, and never came back to check on us. We had to ask at the entrance desk where we needed to pay because we were left alone for a long time. It was our first time visiting this restaurant. We were very disappointed. Tahoe Joe 's is a staple in Bakersfield. The food is good, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it is always clean. They are also generous enough to support local organizations by helping out with fundraisers by way of selling meal tickets which is the primary reason for this 5 star review. We enjoy just about everything about Tahoe Joe 's except the steak ?. Everything else seems to come out juicy and flavorful, but the steaks medium rare in picture) have always been dry. Other than that, service and food are always top notch. Love eating here.
Happy Hour is amazing. Love me some steak nachos, cabin friars and the Pastrami Sliders are for a big husky guy like me to die. Get a first-class long Island Ice tea to wash everything. You'll thank me later.
Hope you're hungry. Portions are huge. Food was good. Our server Addison was special. Always there when we needed our drinks refreshed. Oozing personality. The meal was great but she was exceptional.
