Tanpopo - Reserva de mesa

This is not a place to come if you are in a hurry. There were total of 7 dishes which took over 4 hours to serve. The first dish was only served after 40min! The first few dishes, especially the soup was great. Also like the slices of wagyu beef served like a flower. It was great effort by the couple, and price is reasonable for the ingredients that included lobster meat. However, I will recommend the shop to serve fewer dishes, and maybe less ambitions in the presentation to save some time. There were a total of 12 diners tonight and obviously all were pretty impatient as the food took a really long time to arrive and everyone was fiddling with their phones.

This is not just a restaurant, but a convincing concept. The food is prepared from local fresh product in a refined and creative Japanese style. A nice couple is running the place, the Japanese woman being the cook and the man the waiter. They are very welcoming and make you feel comfortable. Every dish is a surprise of ingredient association presented as a piece of art. I would definitively recommend this place to couples visiting Saint-Malo.

We stumbled upon this unassuming restaurant in a quiet square and were glad we did. The restaurant is tiny (6 tables of 2-4 people) and run by a husband and wife team. The food is very well presented, good flavours and some interesting textures like the salt-sugar marinated salmon. By far one of the best meals we had in St Malo especially when compared to the Michelin star restaurants.

We had an amazing experience at Tanpopo. The food was extraordinary. In addition, the environment, the service, the hospitality of the two hosts made it a very special experience. We loved the set menu and were surprised by the quality and originality of every meal. In the beautiful scenery of Saint-Malo, going to Tanpopo could very well become an annual pilgrimage. Amazing experience! Successful tasty and subtle fusion of Japanese cuisine and French products... each of the seven meals was delicate, full of various tastes and incredibly delicious. We went for my birthday and I enjoyed every last bit of it! We look forward to coming again and again and see how the various seasons affect the menu!!

I have been liightly disapointed by this japanese restaurant. The owners are certainly friendly and the cost was reasonnable. But the food did not convinced me, especially if I compare with the achievement of "Breizh Café" in Cancale which operate (on the upper floor) a fantastic (but not cheap) japanese restaurant

It was lucky for my husband and I to have bento-lunch there without reservation. It made me feel at home. Nice appearance.Rice with Tororo-konbu was chefe's idea.Lovely japanese tea.Hot japanese somen,was for-mi-da-ble. Fantasy was chefe's sweet.I recomend red wine,for example,Bordeaux chateau,,,,

Very delicious and sophisticated meal. Wonderful French/Japanese couple run the restaurant. Lunch consisted of several dishes in a bento box, followed by soba noodles in bonito broth and a wonderful dessert full of beautiful flavours - like a treasure chest. When you arrive they tell you it will take 3 hours, it took us 3 and 3/4 hours and it was friendly and the food was different but the experience was disappointing. You leave hungry and asking yourself 'why'?

Evening meal in 7 services. Truely excellent and varied. You won't find better Saint Malo. Thank you for this moment!
