We decided only to have a drink here after a five hour walk, but the smell of the food and the way our neighbours were enjoying it, made us change our mind. We enjoyed our meal very much. It was prepared with much care. Despite the fact that the restaurant is located next to the road, it's very quiet. What a difference compared to the busy south of the island. If you want a totally different experience than the tourist restaurants, try to find this tiny restaurant in (outside... this tiny village, sit back and relax and enjoy the home made Canarian cuisine!
We have eaten here three or four times in the last few years. The place is renowned for huge portions of roast lamb, but you have to order this in advance. Today we arrived without a booking and had a starter of chickpeas (very good) and a main course of big bowls of goat meat with Canarian potatoes . The quesillo, caramel custard, was homemade and fresh. Everything very good and the couple who run it are charming. It is right off the beaten track, mainly known to paragliders and serious hikers.
The Romanian couple (who have had this little place for 13 years) certainly know how to please their very mixed clientele! The food is classic Tenerife cuisine and the portions are generous. Today we weren't particularly hungry, so we just had chick peas, jamon de Serrano, and salad. We also shared a dessert of biscuit cake which was delicious.
Went here for a quiet meal away from the tourism of the costal trip. Not disappointed picturesque drive, great ambience. Well cooked and delicious food about €38 for 2, starter, mains, 1 desert and drinks. Delicious food in a charming setting, and next time we'll remember to share. Large helpings !
