The group I was with stumbled upon this place by accident. Wow we found real southern comfort food after quite a wait! Love all the yummy fried food that I indulged in! The catfish was recommended by other customers and it did not disappoint! I don't think I've had catfish before so I'm so glad I tried it. The boneless buffalo wings tasted like standard restaurant fare. Cajun pork chops were tasty. The service was okay. The feel of the place was fun and unusual. How did we end up spending over $200?! We were also told the place is crazy during certain times of the year graduation/football games
While the ambiance may have a quirky charm, I can find comparable experiences at Disney, complete with excellent service. The food here was disappointing; I had a gumbo that was unappetizing and slimy, almost like something you'd feed to pigs. The other dishes tasted like they were fried in old oil.
I want to spread the word about this experience so that others are aware. It’s time to let this place fade into the past where it belongs. It's truly a shame.
Taylor Grocery offers some of the best fried catfish and fried chicken I've ever tasted, and I always return whenever I can. Their comeback sauce, featured on the menu, is my favorite and pairs perfectly with the chicken. Since they aren't open every day, weekends can get quite busy, so it's worth arriving early. The restaurant boasts a wonderful atmosphere and provides an authentic taste of the South.

A few years ago, I visited Taylor Grocery with a large group. The food was fantastic, though we did have a long wait. Thankfully, we came prepared with snacks and drinks, making the wait feel like a mini tailgate party! The restaurant’s setting, tucked away in the woods outside downtown Oxford, really adds to its charm. I would definitely return—Southern fried food here is always a safe bet!
First, this business is not in Oxford, Ms. It is Taylor,Ms (4-A Depot St Taylor, MS 38673) or you could even argue the point that it is in Water Valley. With that said.. The Old Taylor grocery is an authentic Mississippi country eatery. The food is spot on, and although the pricing is a bit high in my opinion, it is well worth the effort to get there and pay the fare..
This restaurant is a must-visit if you're in Oxford! The vibe is lively, and the focus is on delicious Southern comfort food. The chicken fingers and catfish are outstanding. Additionally, you can bring your own drinks and tailgate while waiting for your table!

Worst place I've ever been too. So rude and food was not good. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. They all need attitude checks.
Best catfish I’ve ever had! Bring your own drinks and enjoy a pregame in the parking lot.
