Tea-room Baerenhoefli

We decided to have dinner outside at Barenhofli in Bern. It was a short walk from our hotel (located on Schauplatzgasse. This was a good decision and we had a very nice dinner at an outside table. We enjoyed a Caesar salad and a small melon salad platter. I had a dark beer with my meal and my wife had a house brewed iced tea. Ice cream was our dessert. Service was a little slow since our server was working at both outside and inside tables. The sidewalk is a busy location and many cars use the road in front so be prepared for that. We would certainly visit again.

I was with my friend in Bern and as it was snowing and miserably cold we decided to stop at Barenhofli for a quick bite. It was nice and warm inside and the waiter was quick to attend to us. We decided to have apple fritter with caramel ice-cream and coffee. We had them promptly, the ice cream in particular was delicious, however I didn't enjoy the apple as it was very sharp and salty!

Not quite in the middle of the dining district and thus not crowded so we got in without a reservation. Good welcome and a big room. Food concentrated on local specialities, which in this season means game. The venison geschnetzeltes was fine but not inspiring. Very good choice of wine even by the glass. Altogether a good evening. We'd go again.

Right next to the main Christmas market in town! Surprised it wasn’t busier as the food was really great. Nice atmosphere and friendly service! Must get the apple ring desert!

We had tried the set lunch and business lunch set with risotto and stuffed chicken. The risotto are just too much salty and we could not even have few more bite!!
