We came here last night for dinner. 1st time here. I remember years ago somebody had mentioned an Italian Restaurant off of East Avenue in Livermore. Nice place and overall nice atmosphere. They have some outside seating (several tables from what I saw). They also have 2 rooms to accommodate parties or special event and a full bar that looked like it stayed busy with their regulars. We ordered some drinks and my martini was made to perfection (actually both of them lol). I started with a large Caesar Salad (to keep it real not truly large). I think (of course everyone has their own opinions) but the dressing could have been a little creamier but I could taste the anchovies that were mixed into the dressing. Nice but not overpowering. I like anchovies and ordered some on the side. My wife had their Beet Salad. I think the portion could have been slightly larger but she said it had a good taste. They also provided some freshly baked bread that was really tasty. My mom (it was her Birthday) ordered their Lasagna and she really enjoyed it. They give a very large serving and she said their red sauce was fantastic. Not heavy but she said it had great flavor. The way it was constructed was also done really well. I ordered their Fettuccine Primavera with Pesto and fresh vegetables. The waiter asked if I wanted to upgrade for $3 to their fresh made pasta (of course I do) but the dish could have had more pasta, especially since I upgraded but oh well. I liked the flavor but my wife felt that it had to many Pine Nuts. My wife ordered the Terra Mia Pizza (a 12 Pizza) that had eggplant and mushrooms with a light red sauce. I liked their pizza and felt it was prepared very well. Since it was my mom's Birthday, she mentioned she liked Tiramisu so I ordered one to share. The waiters brought it with a candle and sang Happy Birthday in Italian. That was a nice touch. The Tiramisu was delicious. Overall we had a very nice dinner with very good service.
Was so excited to read about the Italian wine dinner pairing night, so I made reservations selected 630 for our seating. I also noted when I made the reservations that we were celebrating a birthday. We arrived at the restaurant and were shown to our table where our friends were already seated. Before seating us, the hostess verified with me that we were celebrating a birthday. Our waitress came over and introduced herself, explain the prefect dinner options, the wine and food pairing and answered a few questions.. Three of us selected the three course dinner with the wine flight one of us selected an entrée with a side Caesar salad. Our wine for the first course was brought out and we waited well over 40 to 45 minutes for the first course. We had small sips of the wine but as it was only a small pour we wanted to try it with the food! This was the way the whole meal went, long periods between courses. While our waitress was apologetic, it seemed that it was out of her control. She told us the manager was trying to rectify it, but by the main course we had been there over THREE hours and asked to speak to him. He was unapologetic, and I found him to be accusatory. He took no responsibility and offered no real explanation. It was everyone's fault but his. The waitress came back later and offered free desserts but by that time we were done. While, the food and the wine were good. It wasn't an outstanding meal . The fried dough appetizer was too heavy and the dough wasn't as crisp as it should have been. The pasta mid course was watery, like they didn't drain the pasta well enough before plating. I don't think will be back. The 2 stars are not a reflection on the waitress but the manager and the overall customer experience.
Che Buona! A couple of couples, neither neighbor felt like cooking, we decided to head out to Terra Mia! Grazie to Luca and all staff for a yummy dinner and the added bonus of trying some Italian flights of wine. Angelino gave a brief but very knowledgeable commentary on each pour, with service by Paco. Such a warm welcoming, neighborhood restaurant. No need to battle downtown SF or Walnut Creek parking when we have Terra Mia 15 minutes from our house! Each of our pasta entrees was an excellent portion and seasoned well. We'll be back soon! Ciao!
Service was excellent, but the food was awful. Party of three, ordered a pepperoni pizza, chicken piccata, and a ribeye steak. The whole ribeye came home for the dogs, the pizza wasn't done in the middle and the chicken piccata was mediocre at best. It's a beautiful restaurant with great service though.
