Arrived for lunch, and it is the Menu Champetre or nothing. This is not bad news! Astounding value for just €25, this includes aperitif, two entrees, each being duck prepared in two different ways....rillettes, foie gras, cou and pate. Then a small Trou Gascon digestif, followed by duck cassoulet, and then ice cream with pousse rapiere liqueur. Then coffee....with more pousse rapiere liqueur. Entrees accompanied by a half bottle of sweet white wine from Chateau Monluc (which is in St Puy), and the cassoulet with a bottle of very pleasant Merlot. The pousse rapiere liqueur is also from Chateau Monluc. Service a little slow, but that allowed pleasant conviviality with a neighbouring French group...and you probably need time to digest all that meat. Definitely not for vegetarians or teetotallers! A very pleasant long lunch, waitress taking time to describe each dish. Good size portions, even encouraged to have an extra helping of one of the entrees. Not gournet food, and I think they could do well to replace the plastic chairs and metal-legged tables with furniture of more rustic charm; but it 's the meal you are going for. Very good price:quality. quantity ratio. I suspect a bit of a loss leader, as you sit not far from shelves of their produce, which you can peruse and buy....and why not? Our only criticism is a positive....a menu choice, even if just the main course, would encourage one to return....otherwise, you are faced with the identical meal every visit (perhaps they do change the offerings periodically).
