If you want BBQ in Mount Vernon, TX THIS is the place to go. Truckers, there 's truck parking in the dirt lot, just watch the bumps. Every time I ate at the BBQ place in the nearby T/A truck stop it turned my stomach. That 's never happened at the times I 've eaten at Texas BBQ Corral since discovering it. The meats are all good and the baked potatoes are actually the reason I stop by. They 're not as huge as some places (potato here in lieu of side items with the plate) but perfectly cooked and the cheese, butter, and sour cream haven 't ever been bad (an issue when you 're on the road and you don 't know if you can trust a place with foods that should be kept cold). Ribs were terrible not much meat and gave me the dry roasted end rib and only gave me two bones on a two meat dinner and they were huge bones when they had smaller ones. This is the second time I ordered them the first time I ordered them the owner wouldn’t sell them to me cuz he knew they were over cooked was some young girl tonight. Brisket was kinda tough and dry and she didn’t know how to slice it. Beans were good but too hot. I had forgotten how terrible their potato salad is bread was good. The best thing I’ve ever had there was a chopped beef baked potato. Net net they do not know BBQ!

8/31/24 Super friendly service from everyone I encountered inside the store and very welcoming. As a truck driver, I really appreciate the spacious truck parking area. The Loves and TA Just down the street are packed, noisy and chaotic.... and I'm sitting down here at the BBQ Corral all alone with total peace and quiet and a belly full of tasty pulled pork and sliced brisket. ? WINNING!! ??

Amazing food, awesome one of a kind BBQ sauce, wonderful atmosphere- friendly staff. I’ll be making a stop here everytime I come through Mt. Vernon!! Love this place!!
