visited mid-week and early evening approx. so it was very quiet with just a few customers. in all fairness was eating (living) above average and plentiful. the public areas looked quite grim, which I looked at the extensive construction work that is in progress. However, the Gents toilets were absolutely anxious, the worst I've seen for a long time. the W.C looked like she didn't clean this side of the christmas. the strong urine stains and the excretion sprayed over the pan and used toilet paper in the pan and on the floor. My partner and I visited The Acres last spring and it was delightful. There were a range of vegan options available and the chef was even willing to adapt a recipe to make it suitable for us. The food was lovely so I’ve been...wanting to go again for months. Sadly, when we visited this week it was like a different restaurant. There were a fraction of the vegan options previously available on the menu, but I got a shepherd’s pie and my partner got a burger and fries and this would have been fine if the food had tasted great. We were both underwhelmed with what we were served it was all very greasy and bland. Overall, really disappointing. I have no idea what happened in the last nine months!
Nice spacious pub, plenty of seating and a great kids play area make this a family favorite in these parts. We went for Sunday lunch and had the carvery, delicious roast meats served buffet style with all the usual trimmings, Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower, peas, carrots, roast and mashed potatoes, gravy, apple sauce, cranberry sauce etc..... Selection of meats included house roasted pork with crackling, beef, turkey, honey ham and a couple of daily specials. Decent prices for food, i found the drinks expensive, especially coke/sprite, £3.50 seems a bit extreme especially as there are no free refills , could get very expensive for families with thirsty kids...

this was my first visit (from sheffield) for a family birthday party to the birthday of my father was very satisfied with the layout in the functional and carvery arrangements were very good and the service first-class good meat...and nice selection on veg and sauces not sure whether someone had only the vegetarian carvery, but no complaining overall excellent event for a party of all age groups would organize on
I don’t usually write reviews , but we visited here and the welcome and politeness of staff was outstanding. A big mention to the young lady with short hair who seemed to run it maybe front of house) a very confident, polite and very...organised young lady. Made us feel very welcome- went out of her way and delivered an absolutely amazing service. Thank you. We will be back again.
had a birthday party in the small functional room. everything from service, eating and all the workers was excellent. the buffet was a good choice for everyone, we had a vegan in the party, so they had a selection of foods that. made clear to be the vegan plate. had to leave the room because it has bar and toilets in the room. recommend in any case
I arrived early, mins before my table booking, and was told that that a table wouldn't be available for mins. We were told to grab some drinks wait in the bar area and someone would come get us when our table...was ready. We waited for minutes and no one came to tell us a table was ready. I won't be going back.

Great atmosphere, excellent service and food. Well organised and co-ordinated staff. A thoroughly great day was had by our party and all are looking forward to our next visit and next years Christmas Day.
Very nice but a bit expensive on alcoholic drinks , but food good and not that expensive with good service
