The Anchor Public House

Excellent few pints enjoyed with some lovely food from a sensible menu and prices, sitting outside in the shade, people watching, and for a Brucie bonus, reminiscing with the lovely warm landlady back to the 1960's. And in case you're wondering, the pub opposite, Ye Olde Pump House, in this narrow lane, ex road, although looking like it belongs in medieval times, was reconstructed from a dilapidated building and only opened to trade as a pub in 1956.

the anchor inn is magical! an instant feeling with a relaxed and warm welcome to the staff. the food is cooked at home without fuss, a fair price and generous portions. there is a large old open fire stacked high with chopped logs, and many cozy corners in the pub to eat good, good business and enjoy the warm atmosphere. this is a home from home!

Absolutely this place cannot fail, simply fantastic, customer service, eat and so friendly staff. I always come back as I am very welcome. they get definitiw 5 stars! ps the beer is also great.

Awesome pub, four real ales on offer, staff couldn't do enough to make visit a pleasant time, had the lamb shank for Sunday lunch a bit overcooked and dry but still a very enjoyable meal.

very good. we think it's a good value for money. the personal is also excellent. every one on a day trip is destined to visit
