Made a visit to The Angel after establishing that it was once again a restaurant post Covid. The reservation system is a little outdated as there's no contact number and communication is only by email. On this visit the food was very good but not outstanding. It would have been a pleasant experience but for the atmosphere inside the place, deathly quiet. What service we received was fine, quite friendly when in operation but attracting attention was a challenge. Our orders taken, our food delivered but no casual visit to ask if things were ok or to see if we needed anything. We only had 2 nights at this venue as we were in the area for a wedding. This is a fantastic place to stay for friendly high standards. Full of character without a straight line in the place! The hosts staff were superb, with a warm welcome, the room en suite were clean comfortable. The homemade cinnamon shortbread was very moreish. We would definitely recommend this establishment if looking for a hotel in this area. We had both dinner breakfast found both to be superb, freshly cooked, tasty making a few changes to the dishes due to food preferences was no problem for the chef. A charming old inn with rooms in Long Crendon. Serving delicious evening meals Wed Sun. The owner and chef Trevor greets you on arrival with a warm smile. The age of the property means there's barely a right angle or a straight line in the place that adds the overall charm. The food is well presented and cooked and has a comprehensive wine list to choose from. I had Thai prawn risotto to start, and my partner had cheese souffle. Was followed by a delicious pork 3 ways dish and tasty steak. We shared the cheese platter with a couple of dessert wines to wash it all down. Great place to stop over or to spend a few days exploring the countryside and its towns.
Food very good BUT the whole experience was terrible as we were embarrassed by the horrendous service. Us and our friends have never had anything so bad! Bill was £250. I spoke to the owner the following week he offered us a complimentary meal for 4 people. I then asked via email what was included and now despite several other emails there has been no reply. I ended up asking for a refund but guess what no reply. I would never go there again as the service is awful and no further correspondence which is very rude.

We held a Celebration of Life for my husband at The Angel. Over 100 family and friends joined us. Trevor took care of all the details, from organizing the menus for the event to arranging dinner for guests staying overnight. The vegan (for me), vegetarian, and meat options were delicious, as were the tasty desserts. It was a difficult day for me, but it was the perfect way to honor a life well lived. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at The Angel.
We have now been visiting The Angel on-and-off for 25 years and have never been disappointed. Tonight was possibly the best yet. The Thai spiced king prawn risotto starter was superb, the stone bass, duo of pork and lamb mains were all delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. Finished off with the rightfully famous sticky toffee pudding and apple strudel. Our friends from Oxford had not been before but will be back, as will we.
We spent three nights at this restaurant. From the friendly greeting to the attentive service at breakfast and dinner, we had a wonderful time. The room was charming and impeccably clean, the menu was creatively designed, and the dishes were beautifully cooked and elegantly presented. We will definitely be returning in the future.
We decided to have our Christmas party at The Angel and we were not let down. The chef did an excellent job in preparing a diverse menu for all of us. The service staff were attentive and extremely patient with us. Thank you, guys!

We had a lovely couples meal, with the most extensive vegetarian menu I've seen. 5 choices to choose from, for a vegetarian to have a choice is rare. Fresh, wonderful produce, hot and well presented. Excellent value for money.
