This quaint but sophisticated restaurant warmed the soul from the moment we entered on a cold and wet night earlier this week. We were immediately welcomed by a warm, toasty fire, smiley staff and perfect mood lighting. Despite being a wet Winter's Tuesday night, The Barn Bistro was lively, with lots of customers. The service was faultless throughout our entire experience. My partner and I chose the $49 Winter deal, which included an entree, main and dessert each. I could not fault the arancini balls for my entree, and thoroughly enjoyed the flavours in the kangaroo fillet for my main, although this was a little dry in places. Since my first review of The Barn, we have been back four times and each time ordered the prawn gyoza and loved it. Last night was a table of 10 including 4 children. Everyone loved their meal and the gyoza was the big hit for entree for everyone, if you can go past the arancini that is, and the beef cheeks as usual are melt in the mouth and I don't really like meat. Fish was a stand out too. Enjoy the ambience and cosiness at night. Enjoy the food. Visit there sooner rather than later.
We went to the Barn for the first time in years and found it still to be of good quality, with good service and interesting dishes. I had a main of Lamb Duo which was very tasty although the mint pea mash was overdone. We also had a number of th Share Plates that were very tasty, such as the Prawn Gyoza and the Green Herb Falafels . Leave rome for deserts as the strawberry crumble was rather nice. The wine price was reasonable ($40 for a local red). The final bill for 4 was $250.
Staf are always friendly and jovial. Excellent wine cellar. Warm fire and reverse airconditioning was great on a very wet and cold night. The service was prompt and the meals delicious, as always. The oysters kilpatrick and prawn dumpling were very tasty. The mains were ample and the sticky date pudding is my favourite. We will keep returning.

After a visit to the fabulous wine room to select a few bottles, we asked the chef to prepare a menu for us.Our party of 10 enjoyed several dishes of fantastic food and we laughed the night away in relaxing and friendly surrounds.Top marks for food, service and setting.A great place to eat if you're staying at the nearby McLaren Vale Motel.
The Barn has been a favourite for many over the years. During this time the overall excellence has been maintained. The service on our return visit was faultless, the food delicious and the ambience relaxing. Just right for a Sunday lunch beside the fire on a winter's day.
What a beautiful place. The open fire, the smell of nice food, candles and plenty of wood. Also, what a great idea to have a wine room rather than one of those wine lists, you walk along, read the labels and pick whatever takes your fancy. Glorious! Highly recommended!
With great food and a taste of the McLaren Vale wine area, the Barn is ideal for that lazy afternoon lunch or for a group sharing time together. We've had many meals here and have always had a good experience. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed a lovely meal for two on a Saturday night - kangaroo and sirloin with a glass of wine followed by cheese and a mocha-gatto. Yum!
