I checked the website before going to the restaurant and there was no mention of booking a table. When we arrived, we were met by a miserable staff member who told us we had to leave by a certain time and that we should have booked in advance. We decided not to stay as the restaurant was full of wasps and we didn't want to sit there for hours. The breakfast was not very tasty and we were disappointed with our experience overall. I would recommend getting breakfast elsewhere before visiting the restaurant or having a picnic instead. I would not recommend this place, as it had high prices and unfriendly staff. A group of of us visited on bank holiday Monday for a pre booked Prosecco afternoon tea. We were impressed with the fact we could each pick our preferred sandwiches as usually they are already made. The sandwiches and cakes were lovely and our...tea topped up when needed. We were not rushed out and felt free to browse the tiptree items on sale there. Our left over cakes were nicely packaged for us to takeaway afterwards. Well done, we all enjoyed our time there. Thank you to our attentive waitress, whose name I do not know.
We have been here twice now and the service has been slow both times, with the wrong cakes being delivered to the table this time, then having to wait so long for the correct ones to be brought out that we had finished our drinks...before they arrived. When they did arrive we could hardly cut them with the fork because the pastry was so hard. No apology was made and the staff just seemed disinterested. We won't be visiting again.
The service was somewhat lacking. We were greeted with a question about our booking, followed by a reminder that we needed to leave by a certain time. We were then given a tour of the tea room while the waitress searched for a table for us, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. Overall, the customer service was not very friendly. There is no incentive for me to return to this restaurant.

the dog had to sit outside with us so just to say that they only serve tske away outside ie: carton cups, polystyrene food container. they said they were not able to serve the table outside food! then they continued to bring the tablet to the table, and I assume clearly gone after there is no bins!. not sure where the logik is in it.
after all the hype with respect to the barn and the size of his scene I was looking forward to today. my friend and I both had a sandwich that was mediocre, but the garnel and cocks were beautiful. the crumb was only fruit and none. on a positive note. the staff was very attentive, pleasant and polite.
We came here after trying to get in to the Tea Room at Tiptree where they had a lengthy queue to get in. Easy to find and we were served by Penny who was exceptional friendly and attentive very prompt service and the...Afternoon tea for two was fab. Penny even offered to take our photo !
Although it's not the cheapest option, the restaurant offers good quality food in generous portions. Additionally, diners can enjoy a stroll around the historic barns at no extra cost. Reservations are not required for outdoor seating, as long as the weather allows.

fantastic service and fantastic eating! elise was so attentive and brilliant with the young children in our group and very thorough with the review of the ingredients for our milk allergy suffer! she and the shy not recommend enough!
