The food was okay and we had made a reservation for a birthday meal. However, we were shocked to hear staff from the kitchen having a meeting in the bar discussing the dirty condition of the kitchen and how they were told to clean it by the health organization. Some of them were even saying it wasn't their job to clean. We overheard that the ice machine had no door and mold inside. The conversation was loud, unprofessional, and disgusting. The staff were friendly enough when we walked in but, one member of staff quietly admitted to being chilled when we commented about how cold it was. The food, when it arrived after more than half an hour, matched the room temperature. The jacket spud didn't show any sign of melting it's cheese! The chips served with the sausage Ciabata were also nearly cold. The spud was returned and presumably put under a grill, for when it was returned the cheese was melted but the potato was barely any warmer. An additional portion of chips arrived to go with the now almost consumed, and now cold Ciabata. Won't be returning or recommending.
In general, the food was good. The vegetables were cooked well and fresh, with tasty roast potatoes and gravy. However, the roast beef was terrible. I inquired with the waitress about the doneness of the beef and she said it would be served slightly pink. Unfortunately, the beef was completely overcooked. There were only two small, thin slices of beef, and one of them was so overdone that it was curling at the edges. I brought this issue up with the waitress, who apologized. Due to this disappointing experience, we will not be returning to this restaurant.
The food at this restaurant is exceptional, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is lovely. There was nothing to criticize about our experience. We chose to have our family Christmas gathering here and we were not let down. Despite the busy crowd, we were not rushed and did not have to wait for anything. Since we live nearby, we definitely plan on returning more frequently.
Menu was very limited with the only chicken dish not available. Service was very slow and a 10% service was added to the bill, which was not justified. Food portions were smaller than they used to be. We were offered sauces to go with the main course, but they never arrived. This wasn't our first visit but will definitely be our last. Shame because the staff were lovely.
What a great pub and restaurant. Warm and welcoming, friendly staff, and with the ability to serve 14 of us (including two small children) with our meals all coming up at the same time, all hot and nicely presented, and all very tasty. Desserts were yummy too. Prices were very reasonable. We all agreed it was an excellent choice for our large gathering.
Lovely tipi setting for a valentines meal well presented and warm and cosy, the only small issues was the meat was a bit fatty and the onion rings were over cooked and i feel a little overpriced which we didn't know until we paid as no prices on menu, waiting staff were very tentative and welcoming
