On Sunday night came here with my husband to sit at the bar and catch the Dodger game. They were super nice and changed the channel to pick us up. It was not very crowded, but at the same time it was not empty, only a nice mix of people from older people to families with young children. I got a glass of Cabernet and my husband got a beer. Strange, all her wines by glasses are the same price, $15. But I didn't mind because my Cabernet was delicious. We ordered the Cavatelli Pasta with wild boar Ragu and the coconut curry with sunchokes. Both dishes were very good, better than we expected. We also have half roasted chicken, which was a little too salty and over price at $30. But that was the only disappointment and overall we had a nice time.
We had brunch at Bellwether to get some girls time after some rough weeks at work, find jobs, etc. We had a wonderful time. I sprinkled on the bottle of champagne and 3 fruit mixes. We loved the fries, but I must say the egg bean was just spectacular! Feel free to show w/out a reservation. The places were quite empty, which was nice, but also made me sad to know that it lined people outside other restaurants when they were here, a cozy and tasty brunch.
Interesting restaurant that doesn't quite know what it wants to be. All of the food we had at brunch was well above average, but when a restaurant where (waiter's words) all of the dishes are meant to be shared, offers things like a burger (not easily sharable)... It creates a confusing dining experience. Same with the full English breakfast. I suggest segmenting the menu so that it's easier to see sharable items. Other than that, the food was good.
I love tapa style restaurants with a wide selection of interchangeable plates. Bellwether's going home in this area. Tempura cauliflower, squash blossoms, meat balls, Burrata salad, all just YUM! 4instead of 5stars simple because not the type of restaurant you can comfortably dine for several hours. That said I'm back, it's great, just not on a Saturday night.
