Our dinner experience at this restaurant was supposed to be a highlight of our week away during Christmas, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. The main issue was that upon being seated, we were informed that many menu options were no longer available. In my 40 years of dining out, I have never encountered a list of unavailable options as extensive as this. The excuse given for the limited food availability being because it was Christmas was wholly inappropriate. Despite this disappointment, the rest of the evening was satisfactory, with the food and service being decent. Overall, it was a letdown. We waited for an hour and fifteen minutes for our main course. It took 30 minutes for our food and drink orders to be taken. The manager was seen arguing with the staff in front of customers. The meal itself was mediocre at best.
We have dined at the Black Bull Moulton in the past and would return for another special meal. It is quite pricey for a menu that is somewhat limited (with fewer options than before).
This is our favourite spot for eating, whether it’s a last minute drop in for the Scrumptious Seven or a special occasion the Black Bull never disappoints.

A warm welcome, efficient knowledgeable staff, prompting efficient service, excellent food and wine at reasonable prices what's not to like?
Great customer service, we didn't have to wait long for our food. The food was excellent we will defiantly be going back.
Lovely lunch in beautiful surroundings and so close to the A1, fabulous break from drive from Edinburgh to Derby!!
