This is one of my favourite pubs in Exeter, second only to the one I work in. The pub itself has the feel of a old village pub, but with all the modern facilities you’d expect in a big city. I come here on account of the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. I have also eaten here multiple times and it’s always been top notch. If you’re looking for a bite to eat or just a pint after a long day this place has you sorted. The prices are very competitive for a city pub just off the Main Street. Great service from the start with email communication about the booking and preorder for a group of 14. They didn’t ask for a deposit which I found a pleasant change. Food arrived quickly for the short time we had and everyone enjoyed their meals ranging from toastie to pie and burgers. Thank you we will be back.

Come here all the time with my friends and we absolutely love it. Not only is the food always amazing the staff are also incredible. So friendly and I wouldn’t recommend it enough. Will continue to visit throughout the coming years! (Compliments to the chef)

The service at this restaurant is fantastic and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. It's excellent!! It's nice to find a place with reasonably priced food as well.

Highly recommend the black horse. Great atmosphere, great food, great music. SpeedQuizzing is the best quiz in Exeter, definitely worth a visit on Thursday evening.
