Not overly impressed with this place at all. Used to go some years ago and the food was superb. Now it’s chips chips chips mostly and it’s like a fast food restaurant and to top it all asked for a bottle of white Zinfandel and got a bottle of medium rosé sort of red wine which was disgusting but they insisted it was a Zinfandel. Clearly it wasn’t. We paid for this bottle of wine, which we. shouldn’t have done really we should’ve asked them to change it for one that suited us and was correct. Had to buy lemonade to mix with the wine to make it palatable for us. This put a damper on the evening really for us which was supposed to be a nice celebration of family getting together. We recently dined at the Boat Inn for the first time and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant has a beautiful setting by the river where we enjoyed watching various wildlife and canoeists. We savored a delicious bowl of crispy hot chips and a well-maintained beer. For dessert, we treated ourselves to three scoops of homemade ice cream in flavors of Pineapple, Peanut Butter, and Blackcurrant, all of which were delicious. The staff were cheerful, friendly, and attentive, and the restaurant was impeccably clean, including the restrooms. Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome. We look forward to returning soon.
Myself and 2 friends, enjoyed a evening catching up at this beautiful pub, sat outside next to the river, late evening sun was setting and sky loooked fab. Food was top notch, I had fish and chips, the chips are AMAZING big chunky and crispy!! Fish very good to. My friends both had steak and enjoyed it thoroughly. Waitress and bar man really friendly and welcoming! Have been here a few times for food now and have never been disappointed.
In Hay on Wye for a few days, looking for Dog friendly pub. Came across the Boat Inn. Ordered 2 meals, steak and scampi. Absolutely fantastic service, food came with all trimmings. My steak locally sourced was tender, tasty and cooked to perfection. Locals entered into great chat, made to feel really at home and to top it all table by window looking over river Wye. Thanks to all, we will be back.

A great and tasty meal. The welcome by the Manager (Joanne..I think her name was) was very welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. The burger was very tasty and my Nepalese Chicken curry was absolutely divine. Presented beautifully and the chicken was so tender and the taste remarkable. Great meal and great service…what more is needed..??
Terrible! Ive had better school dinners. Im a foodie and this food was sooooo disappointing and not cheap. I had a roast beef dinner. The beef was cheap, i assume boiled and disgusting and the Yorkshire puddings were poorly cooked oit of a packet. I was so hungry entering that pub, and it still tasted awful.
We had a very nice evening meal here. Fish and chips with light crisp batter and big chunky home made chips. Lamb steaks with new potatoes and veg was also good. Reasonably priced wine. Good service. Lovely Riverside location with outside seating if weather cooperates.
I enjoy dining at The Boat Inn, and today's roast dinner was incredible. My favorite part was the stuffing and crackling! The views and staff were also amazing as always. They have gained a loyal customer in me forever.

The restaurant has a beautiful spot by the river, with welcoming staff and delicious cider. However, we were disappointed with the Sunday dinner as both the beef and pork lacked flavor.
Great food and great service, always asked if we need/want anything by passing staff. Nice view of the river wye.
