I never give bad reviews but great tasty meal and reasonably priced for food. Drinks were absolutely extortionate but I guess that's how they make their money! A group of 10 celebrating a birthday. They took drinks order seperate, which was strange. After telling them 2 or 3 tines we needed seperate bills as everyone wanted to pay for their own meals etc, they presented us with a jumbled up bill, which was only food. Drink was on a seperate bill, which they would not give us to work out the extra cost. Everyone added up exactly what they had and we all paid separately. After waiting 45 minutes for our starters, we flagged down a waiter who apologized half-heartedly and rushed our food to us. Unfortunately, the starters were greasy and inedible, far below the usual standard we expect from the restaurant. Our main dishes were also disappointing, tasting nothing like what we were used to at this establishment. The staff seemed indifferent to our dissatisfaction, and the noise coming from the kitchen added to the chaotic atmosphere. The Fort never fails to impress with its delicious food, but our takeout experience on 9 September was exceptional. Ordering over the phone was easy and they were accommodating, even customizing our dishes. The packaging kept the food hot and made transportation simple. The variety of dishes we ordered for 4 people were all well-prepared and delicious. My only small critique is that the tarka dhal was a bit more liquidy than I would like, but the flavor was still excellent. Overall, we are fortunate to have such a fantastic Indian restaurant in Buckingham.
We came here for an evening birthday meal as a group of 5. Our drinks orders were taken but the order for a salty lassi came back as a sweet one so had to be sent back. This was the only weak point in an otherwise spectacularly good meal. My spicy fishcake starter was excellent, the onion bhajis and kebabs others had were all very well received. I hadn't dined at this restaurant in years and was pleased to see that the high standards have been upheld since my last visit. The food was delicious and expertly cooked, and we received a warm welcome. The restaurant was quiet on a Sunday evening, but I was informed that it is busy on Fridays and Saturdays, so it's best to make a reservation. In my opinion, among the Indian restaurants in Buckingham, this one still stands out as the best.
This restaurant has been a firm family favourite for many years. The staff are so polite and friendly, always adding those extra touches and making everyone feel so welcome. The food is absolutely excellent and they will happily let you take away any leftovers. Highly highly highly recommended.
