Food was good; no issues there, but everything else about this restaurant was subpar and left a lot to be desired. The bar area we first walked through was noisy with a TV playing, which conveyed more of a generic Applebees vibe than finer dining. The dining room itself was boring; too brightly lit, lacking ambience, and featuring generic cafe style tables and chairs. Our server was not rude, but she made no effort to do anything but rotely take our order and deliver our food, then plunked the bill on the table before we were even done eating, making the experience seem transactional and rushed. I went with a party of 4 adults and 2 young kids. The kung pao Brussels sprouts, cream of crab soup, crab cakes, and frozen cheesecake were so delicious. The rest of the group had the shrimp and grits and duck. Everyone loved their food. The flavors were amazing. I highly recommend The Charles!

Our appetizers came after the main course which was disappointing. But we weren’t charged for them. My tacos were mediocre with only 2 shrimp on that taco. The bar service was very slow as usual taking 20-30 minutes to be served. We were disappointed overall without experience.

The ambience was nice. The service looks great. I would definitely go back. The only complaint I have is that some of my French toast was warm as if it had been sitting out before I received it in my table. and some was hot but everything else was good. Reserva una mesa ahora

We had an excellent lunch at The Charles. We both ordered salads and sandwiches, and all the food was outstanding. The waitress was attentive and the atmosphere of the dining room was delightful.

The restaurant is one of the few upscale dining options in La Plata and is a perfect choice for a meal before a show at Tobacco Players or a romantic date.
