Had the worst meal for long time. My cod was over cooked, rubbery and tasteless. The meal was barely warm. My other guests were not overly enthused by their food either. Very disappointed. And to add insult to injury the service was diabolically slow. Took over an hour to get main meal served and half an hour to receive desserts, which were the better part of the meal. I didn’t complain as what is the point- if they offered me something else it probably would have been so long in the coming to the table that my guests would have long finished their dinners. But I will never ever be going back there again.
We all went for the set menu which was lovely. My father who has a restricted diet was able to find something with ease, and I really enjoyed my pate starter and hunters chicken main. There is a dog-friendly section by the bar which is great, and loads of outdoor seating which is very pretty if you catch a sunny day!
We waited half an hour for service then were told to order at the bar (on previous occasions we have always had table service) at which point we were told the kitchen had closed because they were understaffed. It was 8 o'clock on a Wednesday.
4 meals ordered and only 1 served correctly. the 2 steak dishes were served to the wrong order and the pie was ordered with mash veg and came with chips that was sent back as it belonged on another table. The restaurant was not even busy.

Lovely evening at the Cheshire Cat great for family dining in a relaxed environment. After dinner a nice walk along the canal tow path whilst the sun sets. Superb mid week night out
We received a very friendly welcome from our attentive waitress. The food was really lovely and service was great. We enjoyed a very special Valentines day meal.
A nice meal as always although the banter we normally enjoy with the staff wasn't there, some of the personalities don't seem to be there ?
We went for Sunday dinner with the kids. The food was tasty and the staff were pleasant and attentive.
