The reviews were good, it wasn't too far from our location and the menu was intriguing. And it did not disappoint at all!! It's cosy, warm & inviting with stylish feel to it.Our Waiters were very attentive, fun & informative, albeit a little hard to understand at times (specials lost in translation).Cocktail list is extensive, we tried a few but just didn't find one we loved.Food was delicious...stuffed zucchini blossoms a definite recommended starter. A gathering of friends. First a drink in the pretty courtyard, then to the Restaurant for a lovely dinner. Chef recommended the Lamb, which was tender, succulent and tasty. I also had the stuffed Zucchinni flowers which were delicious. Other diners had the Ocean Trout, Mussels, Fish and Chips and Hamburger. All enjoyed their meals. Donuts and Brownies for dessert were divine. The staff were attentive and helpful, constantly refilling our water bottles for us, without even having to ask. Nothing was too much trouble for them. After dinner we headed downstairs to listen to the live jazz band. Great atmosphere all round. Recommend a night with friends at The Commons.
On our first night in Sydney my sister and I went to eat at this lovely little restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the food was even better. Since it was my sister's birthday, we even got a complimentary dessert. So thoughtful. I would definitely recommend this place - they have plenty of vegetarian dishes as well.

My girlfriend and I, who is vegetarian, had a wonderful time at the restaurant. The manager Sara and waiter Josh were attentive and provided excellent service. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was enjoyable. We really appreciated the great hospitality and service. Thank you!
This restaurant is definitely worth reviewing. I always enjoy their mussels and chocolate ganache doughnuts. They use local Australian ingredients and the staff are knowledgeable about the menu. The wine menu is also impressive and will surely inspire you.
Margaret and I had a delicious feed in the small courtyard the Commons Local offered. It was slightly cool, but I hear that's what winter is known for and I could hardly hold such a fantastic eatery responsible! The food is fantastic.
We came here on our first evening in Sydney because it was around the corner from our hotel and we soo much enjoyed it that we came back again. What a lovely place with really nice food and great ambiance.

Chose The Commons before a show at a nearby theatre, so time was limited. Had a very pleasant meal, service was quick and friendly. Would go back.
