Wood fired oven which runs pretty much great friendly service and lovely pastries and coffee. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating and user pay parking as well as some hr free parking near by. The bakery forms part of the Abbotsford convent...art scene, however could do with a creative makeover. My coffee, chili scrambled eggs and the take away pastries were extremely yummy, well the few bites my friends left me to sample of the almond croissant and raspberry danish.
Stopped here to cheer ourselves up on the way out after an underwhelming lunch at the Japanese spot nearby. Coffee was excellent and the lemon tart was outstanding. The custard tart was also delicious old style pastry, yum although the filling could have...been a touch creamier. Service was excellent, and we also enjoyed having access to large glasses of fresh water. The outdoor seating area is a bit exposed to the wind, but we got lucky with a sunny day, so it was ideal.
So if you are visiting the Convent Bakery try their amazing bread making class. It's run on Sundays. You spend several hours making the most delicious scones, sourdough, calzone and plait loaf. The experience is not to be missed in this authentic kitchen with yr old woodfired oven. The convent grounds are beautiful to relax in on the lawns and the buzzing Sunday cafe is full of delicious treats and coffee.
I required to recharge my electric bike, the cafe owner made such a fuss over me using the power outlet in their cafe courtyard. The owner purposely placed their beer barrels in front of my bike effectively blocking me from retrieving my bike. Not a...supportive or friendly attitude, infect quite disturbing especially after buying a coffee from them in exchange of minimal electricity used ... Not anymore! Reserva una mesa ahora
Remembered this place as having the best sausage rolls around. Sadly this is no longer true. Dry and unappealing with pastry so dry we couldn’t cut through it with our knives. Taste is only a slight step up from a S/R now, not what...you would expect from a bakery. Drove minutes out of way only to be disappointed .
The Convent bakery is on my usual walk along the city trail along the Yarra. With dogs in tow it's a great place to stop for a coffee and breakfast or take home some wonderful bread and pastries. The fruit buns are delicious and the...muffins are moist and packed full of fruit. Make the detour to this place.
Once you've chilled out walking the convent grounds and gardens, eat lunch at the Convent Bakery. Meat pies, salads, breads abound in creative presentation. Simple yet trendy place, nothing stodgy and low energy about it.
I had a great brunch of coffee and a chicken schnitzel foccacia. It is hard to say more. I sat inside in a quiet corner and enjoyed my crispy roll, which had a great salad filling and drank my strong flavorsome coffee. Reserva una mesa ahora
Convent bakery coffee is one of the best in Melbourne as far as I’m concerned. I always enjoy finding a reason to get to the Convent to have one. Staff are lovely, service is great and the coffee is superb
